70 30 im guessing

Some of us are over the nice guy bullshit and want higher standards
Put the support around him this time (we have a better top person running the show now)

Get good development people in too
I think if we never went back to the defense at all costs and first to 60 points wins, more of us would be happy.

Need a coach who is more than a hard arse, love how it ends up - put support people around oh an yeah put good development in to.

We may need a harder edge also need a coach who has game day knowledge, is able to develop and have strong structures / people around him.

I do not believe Lyon is 'the answer' . Happy is if is there to develop someone else but he s not 'the man'.

Just cause he is hard and coached back in the day does not mean he is what we need now.;

Same here. Think nostalgia is clouding judgement. Coaches who go around again almost always fail. I cant remember the last coach who was sacked, came back and then won a flag.

To me Ross can only be there in a mentoring or succession role. 3 years out of the game and 8 years since a winning season. Will he be able to delegate and adapt. Will he play a style suited to today's football. Too many questions for mine.

The last decade of premiership winning coaches all started out as untried. To me, that is the way forward. You can get an untried coach who is ruthless and sets standards, you can do both.

I've warmed to Ross a little but it's probably due to thinking back when we were a good side...but then I have to stop and remind myself that that was 15 years ago and the game has changed considerably since then.

We will probably jump up the ladder with Ross but will we win a flag with him or not. We need to find that diamond in the rough. A coach that has the potential to bring fresh new ideas and hopefully change the way the game is played ala Clarkson or Hardwick. There's more chance you fail in doing it this way but there's also the chance you get it right and if you do we are in for a period of dominance at the Saints IMO

Is it time for Bassat and Lethlean to take a step back? They cleared the decks. Should they let Geoff Walsh assemble his team?
This has Walsh written all over it. Four days after he's announced by the club, the board goes and lets Ratten know his job is under threat. No coincidence IMO

Isn’t everything you said exactly how Lyon coached us previously? We hardly had young players back then that were up to standard. The only 2 were Steven whose groins were stuffed and armo who was given 12 games in his first year. If windhanger Milera owens etc are playing well and working hard he will play them.
The non playing kids thing is a myth. He played plenty of kids, they just weren't any good.
That was on the recruiters

The only two I can find are Matthews - sacked by Collingwood then he went on to win 3 with Brisbane; and Blight - got fired by the Cats (I think?) before winning a couple of flags with Adelaide.

Apart from that none that I can find. But I'm not sure if that's because clubs generally don't like hiring recycled coaches.

Yep I'm in the 30 and would have to agree with everything there.

All shitposting aside, I really feel for Brett, he seems like a lovely bloke and has had some pretty big challenges in life. I really wish him well.

Not sure he or Richo ever had a list that was up to scratch for the pointy end of the year.

But it was hard to see our direction at times with a game plan that didn't feel like we controlled games very often… the chaos long ball in stuff doesn't really cut it against decent defensive units.
