the abbreviation of "once in a generation" to "generational" is beyond stupid.

"Generational" means 'of a generation', e.g. "a millenial's tendency to not work hard is a generational trait"

Every single player in the AFL right now are generational.

It’s not that deep.

We all classify tomatoes as veggies even though we know they’re a fruit. Language is plastic like that, we get to determine what means what, and that’s how it evolves.

Irregardless, it’s not a generational thing.

I agree. It's also simplistic to imply that as soon as it's three quarter time and we're up we just shut up shop. In most of these games where we've blown leads in the fourth quarter, the signs were actually there in the last portion of the third quarter, too. And again the last two weeks. With about seven minutes to go in the third against both Freo and the Bombers, the run and the pressure has just sorta... fizzled out.

Given the highly unlikely chance that the coaches are instructing our boys to stop taking the game on and trying to win before the third quarter's even over - especially when these leads we're having are never really insurmountable leads - I'm still absolutely convinced that it's a fitness issue.
I agree. I think we had a poor preseason from an injury standpoint that kept players off the track. Then a number of our important players have had interrupted seasons due to niggles and time out.

We give maximum effort… until we can’t anymore and invariably the opposition has more left in the tank.

The narrative that Horse tried to save the game at the start of the 4th is complete nonsense sorry.

As we lost momentum throughout the quarter players pushed back to support as we were under siege. Pretty much every team in the AFL does this. We couldn’t wrestle the momentum back (which is the point of it) but we did enough thankfully to take home the chocolates.
Yeah that's exactly how I saw it at the ground. Essendon were just running harder in the last and on top in the clearances. We never looked like we'd set up to save the game until very late when Heeney went back.

No but all the other games do. He's comfortably better
As much as he should be AA this year, Gulden will have no chance. The idiots who select the AA side have no idea what the wing position is. They're more likely to put the Bont on a wing rather than an actual wingman. The other mids that can't be placed in the midfield will go to the half forward flanks.

On Parker
Maybe he was tagged
Maybe he had a corkie/or worn down from his Herculean BOG effort last week.
Maybe he had a cold.
Or just one of those days...

Honestly the disrespect on him from some here whenever he's not lighting it up is utterly ridiculous.
Club champion and legend.
Completely choose to forget his BOG performance the week before.

Stop making excuses for blatant ignorance.

It’s got nothing to do with language evolution - it’s to do with brain laziness in refusing to develop a vocab. more advanced than the neighbour‘s dog.

Tomoto is a fruit, not because of some ‘tribal choice’ - it’s a ripened flower ovary and contains a seed - anyone that calls it a veggie lost Trivial Pursuit too many times.

Same as ‘Generational’- it’s a noun describing a state, ‘once in a generation’ describes a DIFFERENT state.

Hey…why don’t we evolve the language and call everything Red, as Blue.

It’d really **** with those Dee supporters!

Haha no. At least they won 12. Saints 1. Mind you the Wally's only play the All Blacks. But All Blacks have won 3 times as many world Cups as anyone else. Why would you keep doing it to yourselves? Mind you Saints fans must ask the same thing. Either that or they are just insane

I think our defensive coordinator was riding a bike , and as we got more tired the players were not getting forward to create targets, defence was confused and Essendon ran hard with nothing to lose

Yeah mate I know why it’s a fruit and you’ve completely missed the point but I don’t care enough to add much else.

As you correctly state, it’s a fruit.

What you clearly DON’T get is calling it a veggie is not ‘plasticising’ language….it’s just ignorance.

A bit like saying language is ‘plastic’.

Only to the dumb brother…only to the dumb. 😉

Anyone using consistency and precedent as guiding principles in English usage is heading for the perilous shoals fast.

An entire nation, the third-most populous in the world, the nation that has more Nobel prize winners than any (and three times as many as the next) calls a meal’s main course the “entree”. You gonna tell them they’re wrong?

Girls in the DQ household spent most of the 2nd half determining who “the cutest Swan is”.

Drove me up the wall, but for those interested, the results are in:

1. Errol
2. Rowy
3. Some snowboarding guy in the crowd
4. Heeeny
5. McI

I realized halfway through the 2nd quarter that Errol looks alot like Gohan, and now I can't unsee it.

And you resort to cheap insults.

Language is indeed plastic, or whatever term you’d like to use. You in fact use words on a daily basis that, once upon a time, had entirely different meanings. They evolved.

You should, too.

Dunno about that, with a spot in the finals a possibility they will make an effort (they aren’t Manly supporters who refuse to go over the harbour bridge)

Manly supporters won't even cross The Spit let alone the harbour bridge

Haha * Essendon. Bunch of s**t campaigners. I love it!

This is the way, **** the dopers.
