Patrick Dangerfield was interviewed by Gerard Whateley on SEN this morning.

It was actually a very good interview. Dangerfield was refreshingly forthright & said that:

* The technology around goal line reviews can & should be improved, but that the Crows' now just need to get over it as human error will always be part of sport. He noted that we don't want the AFL to end up like the NBA where the last 3 minutes takes forever as everything gets reviewed - its tedious.

* Bontempelli is the best player in the league.

* The prize of a car should be brought back for goal & mark of the year. It adds a bit of pizazz.

* Geelong will have a crack this weekend, but he can't predict how the team will perform given they don't really have anything to play for.

Heard both of those. Jenkins has a few times had not good things to say about Swans. Of course Mcliar and his show didn't show the other angle of Mccartins.
Also all the shows go with the angle of the goal footage that makes it look a goal...but on the game night the angle the showed the first few times looked like it may have hit the padding.

Unbelievable..only the second time in the history of the game a goal umpire has made the wrong call. 😏
Third, luckily this one didn't affect the game 😂

Most of SEN are Hutchy stooges, Cornes, Jenkins and most of the newer to media types.

Only Gerard Healy and Derm are worth listening to, the rest follow group think.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Isn't SEN owned by Hutchy, in which case wouldn't that make them his stooges by defnition if he has hired them?

Previews 5 suggested trade targets for us. One is bleedingly obvious (Ben McKay), a couple are perhaps worth considering (Nick Bryan, Adam Tomlinson), the others are totally meh (Jack Graham - who they bizarrely comapre to Tom Mitchell as someone who can get the pill, and Tom Highmore).

SEN is owned by Hutchy but that doesn’t necessarily mean that if you work for him you are a stooge.

The definition of a stooge in the context I was referring: One who allows oneself to be used for another's profit or advantage; a puppet.

Most of the newer AFL media brigade have come through under Hutchy the media boss (a lot of his contemporaries started when Hutchy was a journo) and seem to push his agenda of the American model of sports, eg - Wildcard rounds, vic media bias, etc

Finally, some common sense

The King! What have you started?

Great pickup GTG I nearly choked with laughter and pneumonia. Not a good combination.

Stealing our ideas again

Next players giving their best toasties

Hutchy stooges ? give us more on what you know

Love for American sports, close to Gil, has mentored Jenkins and Cornes, hence the latters almost American divisive commentary

And the reality of what we now deal with compared to how it was.

Damo putting the boot into the Crows and the having a bet both ways in his Swans post

Fox News: I find Montagna's comment about Melsham interesting considering we've been using Hayward for this type of role all freaking year.

SYDNEY v MELBOURNE

Sunday August 27, 3.20pm at the SCG

How to watch on Fox Footy: From 3pm on Channel 504, with Garry Lyon, Jonathan Brown, Nathan Buckley, Alastair Lynch and Jon Ralph.

Swans’ burning question: Why was it so important to challenge McCartin ban?

Sydney have already shown there’s life after Buddy in attack, but it’s down back where it’s clear they need all the troops they can get. The Swans are leaking the most inside 50s... but the defensive duo of Tom McCartin and Nick Blakey are simply shutting down the opposition - and it’s why their decision to challenge McCartin’s bump ban was crucial to their finals hopes. McCartin had copped a two-game ban - meaning he would have been missing from their do-or-die final coming in the first week. “He’s so important to them,” Leigh Montagna praised. “He’s averaging the eight intercepts the last month. He’s been in good form. They can’t afford to lose Tom. They don’t want him missing a final.”

Demons’ burning question: Can Melbourne capitalise on their all-important ‘diffuser’?

Melbourne have endured their share of forward line woes this season, but against Hawthorn last weekend the Dees showed their not-so-secret weapon - Jake Melksham. Leigh Montagna described Melksham as the “diffuser” for the shutdown role he is able to play as a forward on the opposition’s best interceptor. “The best diffuser in the competition is Jake Melksham,” he praised. “He schooled (Hawk) James Sicily... and exposed him. (He had) eight shots at goal, 3.4, he had the goal assist. He was the difference” Montagna said that diffuser role had a “big part” to play come finals in September. “You’ve got to have a diffuser who can nullify the opposition’s best defenders but also hit the scoreboard and he’s that man.”
