I don't know how to take this - if the Swans have planned to have him succeed Longmire in 2025 which Cox has almost certainly agreed to - to then say he's going to change his mind and head back to WA as they're insinuating would be very disappointing.

They're basically saying he's not a man of his word.
Don't take it literally.
The source for the story is clearly the Eagles - could be the chairman, could be the strapper, could be that fat guy from the cheer squad. But Gossage obviously doesn't know anyone at the Swans and obviously never checked it with Dean Cox, so how the freak would he know what Cox and the Swans are thinking?

Second, the Swans are the best in the business at not getting caught up in this kind of melodrama. It's unlikely they would 'promise' the coaching job to anyone two or three years out. Anything can happen in the meantime - like how Malthouse screwed up the Collingwood transition by winning a premiership. Or Dean Cox could get offered a job.

Most likely the truth is in the middle. Cox and who knows who else - McVeigh? Pyke? - are probably frontrunners to replace Horse. But there's no point in making a secret deal for the coaching position years in advance. It's just putting a noose around your neck. Whoever it is will be announced in the final year of Longmire's contract. Up until that point the assistant coaches are free to do what they want.

Swans Daily Media
Swans Talk starts 5:20mins into the video. Also touches on Buddy's farewell which is a happier note then our abysmal fourth quarter record they showed.

Lots of praise for Errol

Touches on Buddy's farewell

Getting sick and tired of every media article we made finals with and I quote 'A little goal umpiring help'

From Herald sun article:

2. Failure in the F50

Sydney had 51 inside-50s and kicked seven goals, raising doubts that a forward line of Amartey, McDonald and McLean can get it done when the defensive attitude ramps up in big games. Isaac Heeney didn’t help, either. He kicked 0.2 and another out of bounds, and dropped an easy chest mark in the final quarter 20m from goal. The Swans were in the game until Melbourne increased its intensity, and while that wasn’t the fault of the forward group, it certainly didn’t capitalise on earlier dominance from the Swans midfield. Amartey, McDonald and Co. were up against the best defence in the competition, so it’s not all doom and gloom. But can those two in particular dominate a final? Not sure about that. Amartey had seven touches and was goalless, McLean had 10 and one and McDonald had 13 and kicked 1.3. The Swans have been the highest scoring team in the comp over the past six weeks, and fifth-best for scoring once inside 50. Sunday’s effort may be an aberration. Well, they hope it is. Because a repeat of the same will mean a hasty exit is looming.

The fact we kicked 7.14 I feel was a bigger factor

Nothing produces whiplash like footy media's sentiments in between a win and a loss.

You should have seen Robbo's comments on North winning. Starts off going Great work not tanking - then goes off at them for not getting pick #1 by winning a dead rubber.

Sounds about right. Looks like my media boycott is gonna continue into September and the off-season.
