I agree but the super bowl is moved around, and that's the problem here really. Best of 3 stinks, but the grand final being in a set spot as it currently is , is unfair
People have mentioned NBA, MLB and NFL analogies. I think international soccer is more fitting, where they essentially aggregate goals over the two encounters.

First game is not at MCG. It is at the top team’s home ground, or if the top team is based in Melbourne then the other team’s home ground.

Second game is always at the MCG and is always the decider (tradition saved).

Whoever scores the most over the two games wins. Only have extra time if overall scores are still tied at the end of both games (first game can be a draw).

*In the event that two Melbourne teams play, top team can elect to play first game at Docklands or other alternative ground if they wish - otherwise it becomes two games at MCG.

They’re happy teams at Geelong and Sydney – but which club is the unhappiest?

Geelong and Sydney, renowned as two of the most successful football clubs in the past quarter of a century, have been named the happiest places to play football by their own players.

Only two clubs finished with an overall score above nine, with the top club reporting a result of 9.51. Multiple sources at Geelong and Sydney, who spoke to The Scoop on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the report, confirmed they were at the top of the pyramid.

Couldn't open it , but it is by MacLure

Didnt miss much, the headline basically tells the whole story

AFLPA survey of players re: how happy they are with their club across 6 areas, Sydney and Geelong confirm they got combined scores higher than 9/10 (only clubs to do so), no other club has confirmed where they stand, 1 club scored lower than 7.

Then speculation that poor performing clubs may be unhappier than good performing clubs...

Sydney and Geelong also rank bottom in the AFL mullet league. Coincidence???

If you think there's nothing you can't apply data analytics to, you're right. ABC has run the numbers on players sporting mullets and we are 17th (four mullets) and the Cats bottom (or top), with three.

Biggest mulleteers - Bulldogs of course with 14.

07JUN24: Swans Daily Media

Swans vs Geelong game talk - last section of the video. Kingy reckons the Cats will go a double tag on Warner & Heeney.

Kingy will harp on the double tag until someone does it and it (notes: unsurprisingly) doesn't work.
Without wanting to whinge.. Im a bit sick of hearing King say that Scott is the best coach. Ive heard that now at least 20 times this year. Not only do I disagree with him but its bloody annoying hearing him push that opinion/agenda soo much. Its a bit like the old adage 'If you going to lie, make it a big one and tell it a lot'

Tagging - another thing that King bangs on about..
Does he know that over the last few years, the Swans have tagged intercepting defenders (using Hayward), tagged rebounding defenders (Hayward, Clarke, Jordon) and tagged inside mids?
Is King aware that only two games ago Jordon tagged Walsh, and, Rowbottom played on Cripps (kind of a half tag) and the Swans won by over 50 points?

I look forward to the day that King watches the Swans game (apparently this weekend) and recognises just how much better a coach Horse is.

Swans by 50

ps.. Horse and the Swans coaches have been ahead of the game in many aspects for years.. now they have the players old enough, experienced enough, smart enough and talented enough to play multiple positions, make decisions in game and have elite running and kicking abilities allowing to execute a winning game plan

Article from Cam Mooney about the sustained success of The Cats and The Swans.. Mooney being a cats player clearly talks more about the Cats, but shows absolute respect for the Swans..

Another aspect (that wasn't spoken about) of sustained success for the Swans and maybe Geelong too.?. is success at the rookie draft.
Paps, Cunningham, Rampe, McLean, Amartey, Fox, Wicks, Lloyd.. were all picked up in the rookie draft - pretty impressive by the recruiters, the coaches and those players
