Watch us miss finals next year

Heeney will be half fit and we will be shit to start, then come back and look good and scrap into the 8 then get bundled out by farkn Stkilda or some shit at the g after getting hope up.

Question time - are we a Gun side that is poorly coached or a poor side that is coached really well? The GF losses tell me its a coaching issue.. you cant make a GF without playing well throughout the H&A but constantly shitting the bed on GF day tells me the boys are receiving poor instruction on game day.

Ehhh.

I think I will be in it to watch the academy next year.

Hopefully get to see development of our guys and the allies win the carnival

I think it all comes down to clearances, something Longmire does not care about that much. I do think we are a better side than what we have achieved and we are a side that should be winning flags, both now and in the near future, but I don't think we will until Longmire realises we need to put more effort into winning clearances, and if he doesn't, well we won't win flags.

Statistically, we nearly evened out the i50s compared to that in '22 but we had no method i50. Combination of poor execution by mids and lack of effort from the forwards to create options and keeping the Brissy defenders guessing.

But the stat that really makes me angry, 33 tackles only for the game :(
From my vantage point at the other end of the ground in the first, it was either bomb to a pack 15 metres out as through we had Charlie Dixon playing, or it was miss the side of a barn which was fun to watch.
It really want lack of Sydney forward movement so much as an inability to hit a target
Yeah, I don’t get how you play 3 talls, Haywood, Parker and Fox as forwards. Way too tall and slow.

This seriously has been obvious for weeks. Week one of the finals had endless stats about the type of forward line which works.

Brisbane plays two talls, and four mediums or smalls all of which apply tackling pressure.

That is how teams which win structure (see lynch Riewoldt and end,ess smalls, Geelong Hawkins Cameron and pressure players

We don’t and we have to have dominance in the midfield for it to work.

I'm curious now how we were close in 2016. We're the Dogs that bad, they couldn't flog us even with the umps?
We had contested beast JPK playing an all time game, well supported by Tom Mitchell.

Grundy was awesome down back too.

‘16 was a case of some players having individual brilliant performances which kept us it in it for a while.

But we had more than a few passengers including Rohan, Xavier Richards, Tippett, McGlynn who had no impact.

Mills, McVeigh weren’t fully fit, Buddy hobbled.

Should have won that one regardless of any umpiring because the squad we had was good enough.

Post game interviews

Fascinating seeing the three personalities.

Gulden seemed the least humble. Almost some disdain coming off with his responses to what I thought were fair questions.

Warner seemed pretty simple but also open in his thinking - he won’t be scarred.

Rampe also quite open, but more reflective. Genuinely curious about what went wrong.

Its a common theme nobody knows what has gone wrong the same as in 2022.

I dont know if thats a good or bad thing lol

It is a bad thing. Means it is systemic and not easily fixed if no one knows why

I forgot to clip 21.

Yells at team mates wants the easy ball, is young and a star but heck me you aren't getting 30 easy cheapies in a granny. Stand up and stop barking at everyone else like they are the problem .
It seems to be an assumption that Gulden will be our long term captain. He is an amazing player and reads the game well.

But I am not sure if he will end up being the best choice for captain.

The coaches are sooo flipping reactionary & slow with their in-game tactics. They chuck Parkers into the midfield once we're 40+ pts down & only bring on Campbell when the game is truly over. Pathetic from such experienced coaches. We need some proactive guys in the coaching box, real tacticians.

Just give it to Rowbottom now and Mills can get fit

You can't play those 2 fwds together, let alone 3 fwds with our current mid/small fwds. At one point we had Mcdonald/Mclean/Parker in the fwd line, probably the slowest fwd line combo in the comp. No wonder the ball was walking out of their defence.

Media should put a blowtorch on the players & coaches. That was flipping abysmal. We have a soft underbelly & have had one for a long long time.

Well guess what we are kinda stuffed as we have invested heavily in those 3 talls so we better find a way to make it work.

Fox benefits a little from the fact a team doesn't really care if he gets it 20 times compared to others, but he does bust in. Not sure horse helps him role wise
I think we place lower expectations on Fox & he wasn’t as bad as our “stars”. But he wasn’t very good either.

I seem to have seen things different to most. I saw Florent, Rowy and Roberts as the only trio that really battled hard & didn’t let themselves down.

The press seem to be giving Grundy a pass-mark. I thought his ruck work was really poor - the amount of taps to Lions advantage was catastrophic.

Sometimes you have to cut your losses, play only 2 of them in the same team & never Parker in the same fwd line as those two. I'd rather back Mclean or Mcdonald & Parker in the fwd line complimented with actual pressure smalls/mid sized fwds. I thought Cleary was great in the fwd line with his pressure & contest work. Put him in next year.

The 3 tall fwds have only worked in one game, maybe our mids goal scoring ability has papered over the fwd line cracks.
