Re: The Trade Thread

#TWR requires Microsoft silverlight to work. ( like flash )

It'd be a massive shame to lose Walsh, I though he did pretty good in the NAB cup. And defiantly deserved more game time, ESP I thought Up fwd instead of Kosi.

Im a little confused by our recruiting though. Maybe someone can help me. I've no problem with the talent of Saad or Milera. But Both are smaller fwds when we already have Milne and Schnider in the side. Winmar I thought was another sml fwd along with Heyne. Just seems like slot of sml fwds, and before someone jumps in. I don't rate Schnider as a mid. Bit to slow but great on a fwd flank and allowed to wander.

We need a defender with a bit of pace, willingness to take on the opposition now!

Well let me ease your confusion.
Firstly, Winmar is a tall, he's certainly not a small forward. He's more likely a half back or wing type.
Heyne...is as good as gone, has shown nothing & will likely be demoted to the rookie list (has 1 year remaining on contract)...otherwise I'd move him on for a pick in the 80s!

Saad & Milera will compliment our side very well. Saad could line up for us tomorrow if we had a game.

Re: The Trade Thread

Clubs will inevitably still be negotiating, can deals be announced on the weekend or do they have to wait until Monday?

TWR were saying they can be announced over the weekend.

yeah thanks. Been in and out of hospital for the last two years so I've lost track of who's on our list

Still would of liked to see us chase an attacking defender and offload some of our many role playing defenders

There is current speculation that as many as 14 players have yet to be offered contracts, you can assume that quite a few would be of those sort you listed. Names thrown up thus far are;

Raph Clarke
Zac Dawson
Sean Dempster
Jason Blake
Will Johnson

All of whom would be considered as defenders. (with midfield / Flanker types Gram & Ray also on said list) this is after "moving on" Baker & Eddy already (Eddy had become a similar midfield / flanker type) and trading Lynch recently who again played back for Sandringham more recently. Admittedly of the above list Johnson had played forward as of late but he can then be replaced by Archer who had played back so it's a moot point I think.

And to think, all that without a head coach. :p

Hate to let you down but Lynch did very well as a VFL level attacking defender ( played as a forward in AFL ).
Simpkin is probably more attacking than the likes of Dawson or Blake.
Ferguson is pretty promising as well.

Re: The Trade Thread

How old is Ferg?

Turns 19 on Sunday week.

From the Saints Profile.
"The key-position player has been with St Kilda on a NSW scholarship since 2008, his athleticism and determination convincing the Club to pick him in last year’s Rookie Draft. The Saints see him as a defender, but he has also played as a key forward."

Sounds an exciting prospect. He played mostly reserves this year right?

If it was my call. Clarke Gram and Ray would be the ones at most risk
Dawson is safe due to being the only FB
Blake has done outstanding service to this club and is also a capable KPP
haven't seen much of Johnsonbut liked what I saw of Archer

Gram Clarke and Ray I see all playing a similar role with Gram being the better performer but his age and attitude count against him

So there we have it. Ray and Clarke should go

Re: The Trade Thread

I think he's around 185cm, which would be about Gamble's height.

Seems quite a versatile type though.

Just for good order:

Gamble 184cm

Winmar 189cm

I reckon he looks the goods.

Above that, he seems a really nice kid, with a good head on his shoulders. Was living with a care family, but moving in with some of the younger guys, if not already. Got a bit homesick though the year, but loves it at the club.

Go Jackson!

"he has also played as a key forward."

Dodgy bio, Saints!

Haven't seen him play 1 minute as a forward.

Needs time to get the size needed to play a key defensive role, to work on his kicking, and just get that match experience in judging the flight.

Good prospect though. Got height and great athleticism.

Re: The Trade Thread

Lyon is out of the picture. If Walsh doesn't even want to hang around to see who the new coach is, that suggests to me the issue runs deeper than Ross.
