I would like to set up a purely positive thread for the 2022 season.

Is there a young player that has impressed you? What tactic or game plan tweak has you pleased? Are you noticing a player develop an aspect of their game you haven't noticed before?

Want to have a whinge? Do it somewhere else.

We have not had to listen to Birds of Tokyo post match this year, and will probably not have to do so very often going forward.

Naish and Foley have really impressed me. JJ has shown some really positive signs. SPS when he's played inside does well. Rioli back is huge. For all the flak he cops I also think that Mcgovern has been very, very good the past 2 games and we would have lost by a further 5 goals each week without him. Petch in the first two games was great, even if he missed a fair few shots if your half forward is producing 4 shots on goal a week then he is doing exceptionally bloody well.

Any positives to come out of our absolute trashness, are actually negatives. Like we see a glimpse of a new game plan. Why do we need a new games plan? Because our old one turned to poo, and we became shit and lost heaps of games. Negative.

See a young players get some game time, you’d think that’s a positive wouldn’t you?? You’d be wrong. Negative. Young players are getting games cause our actual players are dead, we’re now shit, and lose heaps of games. Negative.

It’s all glass half empty campaigners, get used to it. Life’s a bitch then you watch cricket instead

Here's one: Brady Hough getting games very early in his career!

When I watched the draft highlights package of this guy and saw his frame, he looked like a sort of prospective bolter you take a bit of a punt on to see if they continue their steep trajectory into the AFL. Seemed like a pretty natural, skilful footballer but was expecting to wait a few years for him to put on size and be ready to compete at AFL level.

Ordinarily that might have been the case, but we've had to try him out early and he has looked right at home. For a kid who only played one WAFL League game in his draft year, he's been super composed at the top level and has had a few nice moments each game.

These past few weeks have been such a fantastic opportunity for him to see first-hand what the top level is like and learn valuable lessons in his craft. This will hold him in very good stead in the long run so if/when we do get a fully fit 22 on the park and he needs to play WAFL for a few weeks, he knows exactly where he needs to get to, to be selected and compete at AFL level.

It's early days of course, but based off what I've seen so far I think we could have ourselves a nice gem from the second round of the draft.
Without the current crisis we find ourselves in, I doubt many would have picked that.
