We're currently tied with Freo on one spoon each but look set to go one up at the end of the year, so we're better than them at both winning flags AND sucking!

Tim English, come on down.Freo got their spoon in 2001 and traded pick 1 for Trent Croad.
Lets not do that

Okay let's give this another shot...
Witherden looks f'ing fantastic. Still young, better one on one defender than I thought, good disposal...
Clark looks very promising. Once Shuey and Redden retire (2024?) should be an automatic best 22.
Pumping games into H. Edwards... doesn't look up to it yet but still plenty of time.
O'Neill showing glimpses... clearly a level above WAFL...
Naish is a quality 23yr old winger and got him for nothing. Love it!
I'm actually going to watch the under 18 tournaments this year. Last few we didn't really have much of an interest as we had high picks. But this year knowing we have a top 3 pick. Be good to give it a watch. Most exciting thing to watch from this season is draft watching.I always look forward to the draft even in the recent years when we've had higher picks but this year will be awesome to watch. I still hope we trade up to get more picks in the top 30. It just has to happen.
I've found the same. The teamsuckingperforming thisbadlysub-optimally is really relaxing. Can enjoy other games without worrying about what it means for our finals chances.
He's only had 1 AFL preseason also... If he can clean up his disposal and get a little stronger will be a useful mid-rotation. He's also hard as a cat's head which is something we're lacking.Connor West is building very nicely this season:
Missed ROUND 1 & 2 with a hamstring injury
ROUND 3 vs FREM: 8 disposals, 7 tackles, 5 contested possessions
ROUND 4 vs COLL: 15 disposals, 6 contested possessions, 6 marks
Dropped for ROUND 5, recalled the following week.
ROUND 6 vs PAFC: 17 disposals, 7 contested possessions, 6 tackles
ROUND 7 vs RICH: 19 disposals, 5 contested possessions, 3 marks
ROUND 8 vs BRIS: 21 disposals, 10 contested possessions, 5 clearances (subbed out in Q4)
ROUND 9 vs MELB: 29 disposals, 12 contested possessions, 8 inside 50s, 7 tackles, 5 clearances
Beginning to have a genuine impact on games now, especially as he gets more midfield time.
His disposal is obviously the main weakness, but he’s showing he’s got plenty of tricks which can make up for it.
Has good acceleration from stoppages, moves well laterally in traffic and is now starting to find the footy more.
Been a good mid-season pickup so far, looking forward to seeing how he continues to develop this year.
I thought his disposals are starting to look cleaner in the past couple games. I put it down to over eagerness in his first few games but as he finds his feet, his composure gets better and he is panicking lessConnor West is building very nicely this season:

I liked the look of Jones off Half Back. Good tackler, hard nosed, can burst through, break lines, good kick into the corridor. Smart move. I would have him in the backline over Rotham and Foley at the moment. Early days yet though.
There is no way our existing strength and conditioning team are going to survive beyond this season, which is surely a positive
Getting Masten back as a trainer is a very good move by the club. Was one of those guys who would always set high standards on the training track

No coincidence that we turned to shit once he retiredGreat for club culture too. Masto always seemed to be much loved by his teammates, and maybe we lost a bit of the fun when guys like him, Schoey, Lecras and Jetts left.
Look at it this way. The current team is going badly and we will lose Hurn and Kennedy at the end of the years as they are cooked so its a good thing. We have a few young guys like Hough, J Williams, Bazzo, Clark who will improve as the year goes on, particularly as the experienced players make their way through the WAFL hopefully to the AFL. After a full pre season and more game time, barring injuries, there should be improvement in Darling, Duggan, Yeo, Sheed, Shuey, Pertocelli, O'Neill, Trew, B Williams, Winder, Rioli, Ryan, Jamieson, Foley and H Edwards. There are some unknowns in the rookie players we got this year so players like Joyce, Dixon, Naish, Culley, Strnadica may survive and some may even turn out to be a bargain. We already have "recruits" who have not been available much or at all this year in Chesser, L Edwards, Allen, Naitanui and Cole. There are some issues with Rotham and a few others and Gaff, Redden, Cripps, Langdon and Nelson are unlikely to improve further and most can be replaced as others improve or are recruited. Then we have 4 good picks next year. (If it was up to me I would move Gaff and Langdon on but I know there are difficulties as they are contracted). That's not too bad a position to be in when rebuilding. We will play finals next year.touch and go but i say go!!
