I think even the most resilient fan bases have a breaking point. We must be close, the next 3-5 years is bleaker than I thought, even as a pessimist

I came back from Spain nearly a month ago, whilst gone I barely checked the footy, and was quite happy as a result. The weather was hot, the food was good and wine cheap. Hiked mountains, swam, and talked to interesting and good people whilst feeding my mind with cultural sights and basically having an adventure outside the norm.
I have since returned to pissy Ireland where it has rained non stop for a month. It was okay, had my mum over from Australia, it's always good to see her...and I liked that she got to spend nearly 2 months with her grandson. These things are important.
Yesterday I put her on a plane...which is sad. It makes me realise how far away I am from home.
However this too is good. Better to miss someone and feel sad, than to feel nothing..it shows you care about things that are close to you. This gives you meaning, and what is life without meaning?
When you try and do things, when you make an effort, you get to ride the highs and lows of life. It makes the world interesting, and you develop through these things...even at my age, which is the wrong side of 40.
Then you have the St.Kilda f*cking footy club.
The players feel nothing, the song is always the same, they even go back to the future to change the face of the club.
This is a team devoid of meaning, and unwilling to change, even when trying to change...it makes you feel nothing, except angry and resentful.
We're losing to North f*cking Melbourne folks...let that sink in. We are dead. A team reliant upon mercenary sleep walkers without the basic skills to play the game.
Life is for the living...and for those that give a s*it.
ECO from here, I'll banter on because I like it...but the footy can f*CK off. The off season provides more entertainment anyway

We are like having an alcoholic gambling addict parent. You get excited that this year you'll spend a normal family Christmas together but then find he's hocked all your possessions and got you kicked out of your housing. You'll spend Christmas sleeping in your car outside grans house pretending you are normal but everyone knows that you are shit and judges you but pity stops them being mean.
