They said on trade radio earlier we will trade for tarrant so it doesn't affect the chol compo. Pick in the 60s or 70s
Working it into the CCJ deal makes sense too, but they're not smart enough to think of that.

absolute gun. Will be on massive coin though

28 next week, so safe to say he has another 3 or 4 years of top end quality left, although heavily injury prone though the last 2 years

I would say though that based on his trade & salary cost, to go after him with our tight cap struggles would be in the "high risk" category. I would love him on our team, but i think we are just basically screwed and will only be able to play in the bargain basement FA or trade market until the "3peat" guys start to retire

It kind of feels like the amount of players we lose makes little difference to our cap situation. I honestly have nfi how Geelong have been able to maintain being so active in trade & free agency for well over a decade, while also never bottoming out. I have no idea how they have not, barely ever, been talked about of being in a "cap squeeze" - while nearly every other club has. Its either incredible list management, or incredibly dodgy

Rumors Elliot Yeo is open to a move. He's a star. Wonder if we'd be interested.
Doesn't Yeo have ongoing groin issues or OP?

I heard and posted this a few weeks ago.

First I heard was mid year. Apparently not happy with the treatment of his OP last 18 months from WC, didn't think much of it.
But then second rumour come out that he was unhappy with some of the playing list (and potentially coaches).

Now, nothing concrete has been confirmed, but it has been floating around for a few months that I am aware of.

I would have him in a heartbeat!

And I reckon he would have been well compensated at West Coast (full disclosure I have no idea about his last deal), so perhaps he is in the position to take a little less somewhere else. It all depends on what a little less is!

Wanted to go home to his mum’s and now he wants out of another club?

he is contracted till 2023 so would be very hard for us to get into the cap = it was a 5 year deal that was signed after his career best season, only possible way we could work it is if WCE front-ended his contract ala Beams/Neale @ the Lions

trade wise i think our future 1st would be about where it is. We haven't really got much in terms of players which would interest WC currently either. Can't see Yeo leaving going very far. Would be a brave club to pull the trigger on him with 2 years left on solid coin, when OP has cut his past 2 seasons to 50% of games played

Yes would seem a little strange, but maybe he is just more mature now than he was as a kid.

Yeh it would be a risk, but I look at Joe Danniher at Brisbane, didn't play for two years at the Bombers, full season at Brissy...

The solid coin part would be our biggest issue.

No way on this planet we could fit Yeo, or any player of his ilk, into our salary cap. Would love him in our midfield though

no way on earth would we have the tpp to accommodate him without moving out players and with his injury record it would be a massive risk, not worth it . would be surprised if anyone's interested tbh always thought he was pretty overrated , like gaff and kelly and josh kelly too and zac williams , i simply dont notice them when we play them , dont waste anymore MB discussing him, complete waste of space

for me 2 outta the 3 are great men,one of em was omnipresent in 2 of the most deliberate horrific on field incidents to ever occur
in the VFL in 1972 which happened to be only a week apart, the 2nd incident, the one after the much publicised and infamous first one, involved an 18yr old
in only his 6th game loosing the sight in one eye for the rest of his life courtesy of a king hit from a so called tough man

now i know u cant be fully responsible for what your players do on the field but i find it staggeringly ironic that the three most blatant
acts of assault,on the field, on an individual in the history of the game, thats including the Bruns incident now, were overseen by a cop or former cop
coincidence ? GAGF'D(not u RATD);)

I presume the first incident to which you refer was the O’Dea hit on Greening. What was the second incident?

Edit: It is ok, I found it.

yeh I tend to agree with you, but I also have no clue as to what our cap situation is.

Lets just guess the following:

Bachar $500k
Caddy $400k
Chol $150k
CCJ $200k
Garth $125k
Naish $125k

Lose $1.5m

Bolton costs an extra $350k
I believe Soldo and Rioli would be on similar, Rioli slightly less, Soldo slightly more, so cancel each other out
I'm guessing we have offered Dave's contract to Tarrant, given we wanted Dave to stay.
I reckon Jack would have taken a cut of maybe 100k, which he hinted to on AFL360

So leaves us with possibly $1.25m

6 draftee's cost you roughly $720k... Leaving us potentially just over $500k.

Now if we can't offload Caddy, there is no space, if we offload Caddy, it's the $500k + the roughly $120k not needed on a draftee, would leave us roughly $620k to spend on a player, to be in the same position we are today cap wise...

A lot of ifs, but's maybe's and guess work but it's possible

can back end deals too. Doesn’t need to be flat 620k. We have a few retirements coming up

I agree...

While the cap may be "tight", it doesn't mean we can do a bit of creative accounting to get something done.

Again, if we had some interest in Cerra, and Crouch last year, it would suggest something's possible.
