28 next week, so safe to say he has another 3 or 4 years of top end quality left, although heavily injury prone though the last 2 years

I would say though that based on his trade & salary cost, to go after him with our tight cap struggles would be in the "high risk" category. I would love him on our team, but i think we are just basically screwed and will only be able to play in the bargain basement FA or trade market until the "3peat" guys start to retire

It kind of feels like the amount of players we lose makes little difference to our cap situation. I honestly have nfi how Geelong have been able to maintain being so active in trade & free agency for well over a decade, while also never bottoming out. I have no idea how they have not, barely ever, been talked about of being in a "cap squeeze" - while nearly every other club has. Its either incredible list management, or incredibly dodgy

I think the Geelong model is they pay key players less but contract them to the age of 33-34yo. So everyone is secure, everyone is comfortable, everything is good, until you get to the point where 20% of your cap is taken up paying 33-34 year olds. Then you are fcudek.

Cleary: Lloydy, Tarrant turns 33 in October (actually not til April, bMitch). How desperate are Richmond?
Lloyd: I really rate Tarrant. He's a replacement for Astbury and is a better player
Cleary: SOS, Richmond met with Talia as well. They went for Tarrant even though he's 14 years older, what do you make of that?
SOS: Tarrant's a great player, better athlete, faster. Age is just a number.
Cleary: And that number is 50. Robbie Tarrant is 50. I know so much more than Richmond, those idiots.

no way on earth would we have the tpp to accommodate him without moving out players and with his injury record it would be a massive risk, not worth it . would be surprised if anyone's interested tbh always thought he was pretty overrated , like gaff and kelly and josh kelly too and zac williams , i simply dont notice them when we play them , dont waste anymore MB discussing him, complete waste of space
Agree with most of what you say except I think Yeo is a gun myself, a very very good footballer

yeh I tend to agree with you, but I also have no clue as to what our cap situation is.

Lets just guess the following:

Bachar $500k
Caddy $400k
Chol $150k
CCJ $200k
Garth $125k
Naish $125k

Lose $1.5m

Bolton costs an extra $350k
I believe Soldo and Rioli would be on similar, Rioli slightly less, Soldo slightly more, so cancel each other out
I'm guessing we have offered Dave's contract to Tarrant, given we wanted Dave to stay.
I reckon Jack would have taken a cut of maybe 100k, which he hinted to on AFL360

So leaves us with possibly $1.25m

6 draftee's cost you roughly $720k... Leaving us potentially just over $500k.

Now if we can't offload Caddy, there is no space, if we offload Caddy, it's the $500k + the roughly $120k not needed on a draftee, would leave us roughly $620k to spend on a player, to be in the same position we are today cap wise...

A lot of ifs, but's maybe's and guess work but it's possible

you missed Astbury

they should all sign up for mensa with that analysis...

I thought what gave it away is we did not try and trade Dusty out lol.

We must think there must be some life in this group yet lol

Captain obvious is said a lot but Lloyd was quite quintessential there

I suppose to be fair to Lloyd he might be more about saying we are having a real run at it in 2022 instead of just 2023-2025 etc.. But lloydy said one more crack, I can see four or five cracks given we are not Geelong yet

How many weeks of trade radio do we have to suffer through this year?
Was initially announced as a 7 day broadcast, however in Victoria 1 day is equal to 7 human days, which means trade radio will run for 7 weeks.
