A second rounder is more than fair for Hill, GWS is showing they won't just roll over for every player that wants to go home. And frankly although a second rounder would be very valuable to a club like Richmond, why wouldn't the GWS stand on principle. With their academy, concessions and whatnot it's just chump change to them.

I think GWS has a good memory and is harder on the Druggies because of the caldwell deal last year

Freo have made all the running on this trade, they encourage a kid to break a contract and now they get pissy on the difference between 19 - 22. I can't believe I'm writing this, I'm with Geelong on this.

I'm actually of the steadfast belief (after about 3 seconds of thinking about it) that a player under contract who wants to move should only be able to nominate the state they want to move to and after that it's up to the club to get the best deal it can for him....

I'm sure there are reasons why this shouldn't be a thing but having invested a further 6 seconds of thought into it, I'm convinced.

They’ve already shown that they won’t roll over multiple times in recent years though. My view is that they are earning a reputation of being hard to deal with nowadays. It’s probably something they wouldn’t want IMO.

Now if we’re talking about players wanting to break contracts though, that’s a whole other story. Too many players agree to deals that they then go back on

Yep a normal club I suppose probably wouldn't want that reputation. But 9 times out of 10 if GWS is involved in trade talks it's about some player wanting to leave them. I'm not sure in that case if having a reputation of being hard to deal with is as much of an albatross around their neck as say it would be for an Essendon or a Carlton. The traffic is too one way at the moment for them to care.
