Why would we do that? There's risk attached to that trade.

27 for 38+40 has no risk attached and gives us 3 picks in a row which is very valuable - 26,27,28.

Not really. The club might still want to package all those 3rds and 2nds to move up in the first round. This is why we haven't seen any delistings yet - our draft hand is such that ultimately we can use all those picks to improve the quality, not the quantity. After CCJ was done, we basically were only linked to pick swaps to improve our position - we were never really a player in the "Trades" - just pick swaps. Picks swaps are still allowed, so nothing really has changed for us now.

Trade period should just run until the day before the season, let clubs trade picks and players live at the draft and continue after.
Clubs trade anyone anywhere under contract but players are free agents as soon as the contract is up none of this compo bullshit

Correct - I would say internally the club is 95% sure we won’t be at the very pointy end in 2022, so all major decisions are on the assumption we need to refresh the list ASAP.

We got Tarrant due to the 5% chance that if all the stars align we might surprise ourselves, as well as Tarrant being a free agent so costing us nothing.

But we won’t see Mitchell or JOM or anyone similar as the club knows the flag chances are very slim…. but not impossible hence Tarrant.

Though Luke Dunstan would have cost no picks and has gone to the Demons to play VFL for Casey??

Our future picks wont be traded as we dont have list spots and will most likely trade out 2 picks this year

The club will know exactly what it's going to do. I'm expecting a few decisions to be made that may not be popular with supporters. I can see us re-signing Nyoun, Miller and Stack and letting Cumberland DES & Garthwaite go, which will give us the ability to take the 6 picks to the draft and give us flexibility in terms of trading, picking up sliders or leaving a spot open for the SSP or MSD.
