Broke even at best I'd say, unless Bowes is somehow another of Gaz Senior's long lost sons.

We have Gibcus. He appears to be well ahead of where 3rd year player De Koning was in his first year in 2020, so no reason to believe he won't continue at a higher trajectory.

Haha, don't stop at the media - there's a general dislike amongst the whole footy community for all things Richmond.

And why wouldn't there be? It must be sickening for them to see Richmond's renaissance over the last decade, after previously having so many reasons to pity and laugh at us. We've evolved into a true powerhouse, with an unprecedented combination of on-field and off-field success.

To be fair, we've got what us longstanding Tiger fans have always wanted - to be hated again.

But don't confuse hatred with disrespect. Make no mistake about it, underneath it all they envy what we've got and have done, and probably even secretly admire us, but that will never be acknowledged on a website like this or at the water cooler.

Nobody really hates a loser. Losers get patronised and condescended against and pitied, but they don't get that real hatred.

Soak it up campaigners, it's glorious. 😁

I think we’re disrespected. Watch when Cotch retires, he won’t get the same treatment as Selwood.

Don’t agree with that. If Bowes is happy to do it then that’s his choice. Seems a stupid choice all things being equal.

Having said that I can’t see him being good enough to have Geelong play him in the middle.

If Bowes agreed to spread 1.6 mill over 4 years I’d have serious concerns over his intelligence and therefore his ability to learn our game plan. Not to mention how negligent his manager would be.

He is effectively taking a 50% pay cut during his prime years from 25-29 and his highest earning potential years as an AFL player.

Who would seriously agree to that?

why did foxfooty give us an A n Geelol an A+

we took the player they actually wanted and also got an extra player that's even better, and didn't loose anyone. Geelol got a bunch of players that are currently C+ graders at best and pick 7 who will barely play for 3 years

They only look at the numbers.Like supercoach.

And of course we have to factor in the "Chris Scott is the smartest man in the room and the most measured and empathetic coach in the AFL" and "Geelong are the benchmark AFL club with elite strategic and tactical short and long term planning expertise" effects....

Let's all raise our eyes and gaze lovingly and longingly down past the Werribee poo farm at what the 'scats' have created!

Why do you want to live in a vacuum??

If you do not recognise your competitors how do you beat them?

Denial is a recipe for losing

When the players cross the white line they do not perform a love in
There's a difference between recognizing what the opposition is doing and sooking about it.

Of course we need to be aware and sometimes you even learn off them, but my comment was in regards to amount of whinging because they got pick 7 and a player. No one is denying they had a good trade period.

Good luck to them for what they did, but really who cares is my point which you seem to have mis-understood. We should also be impressed with what we have been able to achieve as I think we are primed for a serious crack at another premiership and the fact that Geelong have a good draft pick and some good young players doesn't impact our ability to challenge.

Excuse the intrusion, was having a read to find some info on your delistings and found this post. Dogs traded players in an area where we are absolutely filled to the brim (the midfield) for: plugging holes in our forward line, defensive line and ruck, salary cap space and got four picks in the first two rounds of an apparent loaded draft next year, we got a net gain in our overall list by losing Zaine Cordy, Josh Schache and Lachie Hunter (handy player but makes Jordan De Goey look like Scott Pendlebury for culture) and somehow still got rated less than Essendon who essentially traded Aaron Francis for Sam Weideman.

I respect what wells has done too keep them viable enough to be H&A champs.
Until they can beat us while Dimma is still our coach in a final then I may acknowledge them as our deserving rival.

Media mates.
That's what I put it down too

The bloke on here on Fox Footy reckons Geelong are paying Bowes $400k x 4 years, and Bowes wants this because “midfield minutes” and “keeps him in the system longer.”

Either this report is not true and Bowes is getting more than this in his 4 year deal at Geelong,

OR

the AFL should never have allowed this deal, and it stinks of salary cap rorting and the AFLPA should be jumping up and down about it.

I heard Paddy Dangerfield is furious about it and should be doing a press conference any time now...

Oh wait...

What is this financial incentive/element involved with the Hopper trade? Is GWS helping pay his salary or something?

I saw that too...a bit weird. I thought the incentive was to help GWS get the No1 pick. In the end Hopper was pretty cheap for 31 and a future first plus we got two picks back which clearly now we plan to use on developing a couple of talls. Surely they aren't paying some of his salary too ?

I believe it was that Hopper was contracted and we took his whole contract amount on. I don’t believe GWS are paying anything for him.

wtf blooze didnt even do anything in trade period apart from take some dud off freo
Return from injury. That rating isn't just who was brought in via trade.
Last game of the year Carlton were missing Walsh, Hewett, Newman, Kennedy, TDK, etc.
That's were the value comes from.

Other reports are saying that it is a 2.2m deal over 4 years. Essentially the cats are giving him 600k for the extra 2 years

Aarts should be vfl captain
And part time development coach
Should be taken off the afl list
Street is VFL captain. Deserves to keep it.

Aarts as coach: "Now, lads, when you're down by 2 points and you take a mark 35 out straight in front in the last minute, play on, even if you're slow and there's a bloke on your hammer."

from what i've heard, Aarts loves the club and if he gets cut I could see him staying in the VFL. Like the other guys out of contract he was told to wait until after the trade period
Be nice if he stayed but he'll get paid more somewhere else.

You make a very good point , ess lol

I agree with our delistings 100%

1. Martyn was never at the level
2. RCD plays like Schache as a midfielder, just no physical intent
3. Aarts had everything but the decision making required to play AFL
4. Stack was really a one season wonder because he hasn’t put in the work to improve since his first year.
Aartsy lacked a yard for the main at afl too oft ran himself into trouble , pretty spot on otherwise , a rookie for rcd would t surprise even stacky , ess saints or haw may roll the dice

Blair Hartley:
I'd like to apologise to Sydney Stack, RCD, Jake Arts and Will Martyn.

For absolutely nothing! The double doozy champ delists who the **** he wants!

Aarts was never playing again from the moment he played on from that mark against North. Just like when Tom Derickx dropped a chest mark to cost us the game against GC .. he never played again.

I love that about Dimma … there’s a ‘never again’ switch in his brain for each player that can be turned on with an inability to ever turn it off. I’m sure that switch will be flicked for George in one of his handful of games he gets in 2023.
