Hello Tiger fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

tugga you may like to sticky or merge this post, move it to the start of the thread (so the sticky post doesn't rotate if a post is deleted before it), or copy it to your draft thread.

My preference is for Dusty to stay, but if Dusty does leave would we get compo with him being a UFA? If so ,then what would it be? End of first rnd? I can't see him being on $1m+ again. I would be guessing $700k per year.

If Dusty leaves as a UFA we will be lucky to get pick #40
He will be 33 in june and 34 by the time he plays 10 games at a new club

Dusty is a Tiger for Life - Simple !!!

The truth is though as a UFA if he wants to walk then he can. We don't get a say in it.

AFL will shaft us on any compo, the only benefit for us it will free up over a $1 mill on salary cap space.

Reckon he'll stay though

They won’t have to shaft us. Dustin Martin at 33 will get us a third rounder at best (and that’s assuming there is no serious decline in 2024 which there is no guarantee).

Would have been more than happy to let Martin go a couple of years ago when we could have got something decent. But now it pointless to even dwell upon it. Tiger for life or some footnote at another club like Mark Graham or Doug Hawkins.

What he does is nothing to get worked up about.

All depends on what contract was offered to him, 3 x 1m more likely a r2 I’d say

I think You underestimate his value to to the RFC , would be like NY trading out the Statue of Liberty , get some perspective and re consider

Doubt Dusty is going to be on anywhere near that type of money after 2024
unless he has a year that comes close to 2017 you would think he will be on 1 maybe 2 year deals in the $550k-$600k range

Dusty doesnt need the cash and is generating more away from football than he is going to be getting playing AFL when you work out the Tax implications probably gets half in his pocket

His performance in 23 would command more than 550 , time will tell if he can maintain it

Was thinking similarly. He has a marketing and football value to GC (if in fact that is where he wants to be)

Yes and he got paid $1.2 mil for that as he will for 2024
2025 will be a very different story playing as a 34 year old i wouldnt be paying any more than 600k and as others before him he will need to do what they did and take unders

Yes...
All the payment noises about the GOAT...are just that...noises and a distraction...part and parcel of a very great footballing career...
That minor distraction...of weekly/yearly financial payment...will all be finally sorted out by the back room boys...the wheelers and dealers... Practising their horse trading...the good ones, the very best ones, have turned it into a fine dark art!
Each and every Club needs them...requires them to function...greasing the wheels...
Where all the fine talk of footy and talent and careers meet the cold hard reality of cash...
Where the spinning wheels of razzle dazzle football talent meet the tempering influence of bitumen...
Some crash, some burn, and some do wheelie$ orff into the sunset...
But the main point about the GOAT...the salient point...imo...
Is to ensure he wants to...keep on playing...keep on winning...ensuring his ongoing participation...
Nurture that desire with a new enthusiastic coach, new game plans, energized team mates, new promising season..
The GOAT's sole function ought to be on the 2024 Footy Season...
Everything should coalesce around that desire of doing what a GOAT does best...winning the footy on the football field...
Everything and anything not related to that agenda...is a total distraction of focus...talent and football prowess...
The Club would be well aware of all that background unsettling noise and be doing all in it's power to ensure a smooth transition into the 2024 Season..
The Tiger Army needs to close ranks around the GOAT and march with sole function into the 2014 Football Season.
Let the games begin...

Yze will be good for Dusty and breath of fresh air for the team. Hardwick was amazing for us but like Mark Thompson (re: Cats) he hit his ceiling with the Tigers plus he had personal distractions which didnt help. We possibly should have talked to him 1-2 yrs earlier, rather than him coming to the realisation now is enough/ relocate for personal/ other 'better' opportunities. Either way, I think Dusty will stay.

Not sure if Dusty will stay or go at the end of 24, however, if he chooses to leave for GC, then we could broker a deal where we pay part or all of his salary for draft picks. We could then go after another free agent with out diluting any compo we'd get if he left as an UFA. Mc Cluggage would be good.

He ll be out of contract , how could a deal be struck , we finance a new one for another club , against the rules pal

That would require him to re-sign with us and then be immediately traded. No chance that happens

I might be mistaken but haven't we already been and done that?
