Autopsy Umpiring 😳 (autopsy vs Lions)

Umpire made a mistake and realised it was an absolute flop so reversed it, a mistake but better than sticking with the original decision.

The ump signalled the block, then signalled that he was paying the mark. By which time the players had reacted to the signalling of the block and had moved downfield.

He didn't reverse the free for "flopping". If he was reversing the free, he would have signalled that, not signalled the mark.

Free kick to McInerney at the end was an absolute dud. (but so was the one to Brown...)
Umpires are all rubbish these days. It doesn't mean there's any conspiracy, the rules are too over-the-top and umpires think they have to actively be invlovled in every contest. It's a chook lotto and it's turning old and new away from the game.

He ballsed it up under pressure. So many umpires these days are inexperienced, incompetent, undertrained and lack football nous. They make blues. They cost games. The AFL simply have to put more work into it. Granted it's a really tough job, but the quality isn't good enough anymore - it's a bush league.

Today I learned Hodgey is so powerful that he only needs to slowly walk into an opponent to send him flying onto his arse.

Today I learnt you have posted 16 times since March 7th 2019 and 1 of those was here this morning...all from a ‘fan’ whose team is sitting...Second...please get me a needle and thread so I can stitch my sides up such are my 😂

Edit - sorry that’s 2/16 posts on our Board

I'm not sure what Brion posters are trying to accomplish by posting here about umpires. You are not going to get much validation from North posters, so it must be a personal ego thing.

lol do you have an actual point or are you just saying random meaningless facts

What pressure? It's a friggin' North v Brisbane game. That's not exactly 90,000 at the G going bananas. I've been to the Gabba back in the days of Voss and co, when the place was rocking like a Peter, Paul and Mary concert. It was so loud I could barely hear myself whisper. And this game was nowhere near those lofty heights.

The most pressure the ump was under was Hodge waving his arms around, and no umpire wants to get a Certified Good Bloke like Hodgey offside. That would be most unconscionable!

Pressure doesn't explain that mistake, nor the stack of other mistakes in that game. Was shit umpiring, pure and simple.

Anyways, I don't disagree with what you are saying about poor quality umps. I was more responding to your fellow supporter who is making up fairytales about what we can actually see on the vision and trying to magick up a scenario where a North player was actually at fault here.

They're just working through the subconscious guilt from having won a game due to umpire intervention. Makes you come up with all kinds of ridiculous justifications.

It's very hard to just admit "yeah we really got the rub of the green there".

How you guys going with all these decisions? See you moved on from the McInerney one pretty quick once you saw the Brown dive. All you had to do in the last minute of the game is not have plodder Cunnington in the middle for the bounce, and not have Higgins running past the outside looking for an easy ball, and put players in with a bit of legal toughness and they might have won a clearance. Honestly Cunnington got out marked by Neale in the last 2 minutes, but you keep telling us how tough he is.

Our Forward entries in that 3rd Quarter were typical of every poor game of this season

We have such a dynamic forward line but how we butcher it into them is a calamity

Needs addressing for 2020
Did the ball actually enter our forward half in the 3rd quarter?

Congratulations on the win.

As for where it went wrong - we really needed a strong marketing directive from the league to gain some baseless free kick in front of goal and maybe a couple of farcical umpiring decision reversals or "blind eyes" to ensure the victory.

In short, we needed to transform ourselves from a proper football club into a soulless northern TV rights related franchise and all the favours and conveniences that come with it.

Kind of like you did.

Good luck for the rest of the year.

Very lippy all of a sudden for a club that has been shit ever since the AFL gifted you some flags a while back. Enjoy your armchair ride whilst the AFL pushes for a return on its investment. Now **** off.

This could be the explanation.

If you go frame by frame you can actually see Turners arm come around the front of Hodge. It is my guess that the ump was actually paying a block against Turner.

Commentators are confused because they said he reversed the Block and paid the mark

FYI In the below article the AFL acknowledges browns free/goal was wrong doesn't appear to have made it to your board yet. Afl has now said that you were gifted a goal, just like we were gifted a goal.

So corrected score is Lions 81 def Roos 79.

Did they mention anything about the blatant block on Ben Brown that was missed minutes beforehand in the same spot or are we going to conveniently forget that one?

Assuming Brown would have kicked the goal since he kicked one minutes later from the same spot...

Lions 81 lost to Roos 85

Would still be a poor decision.

The frame by frame also shows Hodge taking a step towards Turner, a step that is in the opposite direction to the flight of the ball. He takes Turner out who, frame by frame you can see, has his eyes only for the ball and body moving towards the ball.

Hodge took his ground to put a clear screen on and the ball wasn't within a bulls roar of being within 5 mtrs of either player.

agree

Never reverses the decision, he never points the free kick in our direction. Pays the block then allows the mark to stand as its playing advantage.
Are you actually trying to be serious here?

In want fantasy world can you block someone from behind?

Hodge went off his line to block Turner from getting to the contest. It’s a pretty simple concept. Fisher saw it and paid it.

But because Hodge intervened he changed his decision. If Turner grabbed from behind then the decision would have been holding, not blocking.

It was just one of a myriad of **** ups in the 3rd quarter than magically went in favour of Brisbane.

This one, the out on the full reversal, but take the kick where it went out and Dayne Floppos free kick inside the 50 when he did a full pirouette with no contact were three of the most bewildering things you will ever see.

As for the Simpkin free for using his feet, what a farce. Is he just meant to sit there and let that ****stick Zorko jump all over him after the umpire has called the ball dead? He didn’t kick, he pushed him off with his foot. The real question was, why was Zorko allowed to jump on him after the whistle? A good umpire would have told them both to stop it and get on with playing footy.
