Europe War in Ukraine - Thread 4 - thread rules updated

Remove this Banner Ad

Hey all,

Seeing as multiple people seem to have forgotten, abuse is against the rules of BF. Continuous, page long attacks directed at a single poster in this thread will result in threadbans for a week from this point; doing so again once you have returned will make the bans permanent and will be escalated to infractions.

This thread still has misinformation rules, and occasionally you will be asked to demonstrate a claim you have made by moderation. If you cannot, you will be offered the opportunity to amend the post to reflect that it's opinion, to remove the post, or you will be threadbanned and infracted for sharing misinformation.

Addendum: from this point, use of any variant of the word 'orc' to describe combatants, politicians or russians in general will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning. If the behaviour continues, it will be escalated. Consider this fair warning.

Finally: If I see the word Nazi or Hitler being flung around, there had better have a good faith basis as to how it's applicable to the Russian invasion - as in, video/photographic evidence of POW camps designed to remove another ethnic group - or to the current Ukrainian army. If this does not occur, you will be threadbanned for posting off topic

This is a sensitive area, and I understand that this makes for fairly incensed conversation sometimes. This does not mean the rules do not apply, whether to a poster positing a Pro-Ukraine stance or a poster positing an alternative view.

Behave, people.

Speaking of genocide, here's a talk about the stolen children Russia are now threatening with jail if they don't take up Russian passports. (video embed is timestamped to the relevant section). References this quote: "... a brutal extinction extinction policy against the Ukrainian people, implemented alongside the widespread and systematic campaign of torture, ill-treatment, and unlawful confinement of civilians in occupied territories." - Andriy Kostin, Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

I would like to hear from our Russian aplogists on this, and defent the short people actions in attacking a childrens hospital
I would like them to inspect an operational woodchipper, up close.

While Russia continues to slaughter innocent civilians, Ukraine responds through more attacks on military support infrastructure. [ASTRA TG]

"5 regions were attacked by UAVs this night. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 38 Ukrainian UAVs were shot down, 21 of them over the Rostov region, 7 over the Kursk region, 5 over the Astrakhan region, 3 over the Belgorod region, 2 over the Voronezh region."

Volgograd region: [Oil Depot] [Volgograd2]
Bolgorod region (claim of 4 deaths): [Gladkov says this is residential in Shebekino (next to border)]
Rostov region [Substation] [Oil Depot]
No links yet to the Kursk, Voronezh or Astrakhan attacks.

Chinese ship en route to deliver equipment to Murmansk LNG plant turns back. Sanctions claimed to be the reasons behind the change. [K1 TG]

The Chinese decided, due to sanctions, to return equipment sent to the largest Russian LNG project

At the end of March, the Chinese manufacturer of gas liquefaction units Wison New Energies sent two units it produced for the third stage of the Arctic LNG 2 project. But a few days before arriving at Belokamenka in the Murmansk region, where Novatek’s center for the construction of large-tonnage offshore structures is located, the Chinese ship turned around and went back, a source at the Wison shipyard in the port of Zhoushan told the specialized publication gCaptain.

Two weeks earlier, Wison announced that it was completely curtailing its work with Russia. In total, the company has produced more than a dozen units for Arctic LNG 2. In addition to the two sent, two more ready ones remained in Zhoushan.

American sanctions forced Wison to refuse cooperation with Russia. When the ship with the installations was already on its way, the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) blacklisted the Chinese and Singaporean companies, as well as three of their ships, which delivered gas liquefaction units to Belokamenka after the US at the end of last year years, sanctions were imposed against Arctic LNG 2, prohibiting the supply of such equipment, among other things.

"It is a huge disappointment and a devastating blow to peace efforts to see the leader of the world's largest democracy [Narendra Modi] hug the world's most bloody criminal in Moscow on such a day [Russia's attack on a children's hospital]," Zelensky wrote on X.

From the post:
I am reaching out to my international acquaintances, colleagues, artists, journalists, friends, and all those who care. Yesterday was a terrible day for every Ukrainian: 38 people died, and 190 were injured due to a massive shelling by russia. The russians cynically targeted two hospitals, one of which is Ohmatdyt, where children from all over Ukraine fight for their lives every day.

Together with the tabletochki_ foundation, we have visited the oncology department many times over the years, and the last time was on June 29. We sang with the children; their faces were smiling, and hope was in their eyes. These little superheroes are living through two wars, and yesterday, russia tried to take their lives 💔

Look into these little eyes filled with fear. Look at the surgeons operating under explosions. Look at the mothers barely holding back tears to comfort their children. Now, the hospital and these children need our help to rebuild the facility as soon as possible and give the young patients a chance to live. Ukraine needs the crimes of russia to be publicized so the world knows about every broken soul. I ask you to join the fundraiser through the story link; even a small donation can make a difference. Sharing the posts and stories will help spread the word to more people.

We must unite for the victory of good over the evil that attacks an independent country, bombs peaceful cities, and kills innocent citizens.

The fundraiser I shared above includes a warning to protect Russian citizens and those visiting or in Russia with the following text, alluding to penalties not excluding imprisonment for supporting such a fund:

The Russian government has designated GlobalGiving an "undesirable foreign organization." Russian law prohibits Russian citizens, both within and outside of Russia, from cooperating with or supporting organizations that have been designated “undesirable.” Any donation made by a Russian citizen to or through GlobalGiving could expose donors to administrative and criminal penalties, including fines and imprisonment in Russia.

Non-Russian donors who travel to Russia could also be at risk. Some of the organizations and projects posted on the GlobalGiving website may also be considered by Russia as acting against Russia's interest, and donations to them may be separately subject to similar penalties. Russian citizens and travelers should consider the risks and consult their advisors before making donations through GlobalGiving.

More than 150 organizations are now on Russia's "undesirable" list, including media outlets and organizations engaged in political, cultural, religious, educational, and pro-democratic activities.

Yes, it's essentially illegal in Russia to perform any compassionate act towards children that the RF wants to slaughter. That's the "undesirable organisation" listing, which runs essentially synonymously with the "foreign agent" law.

a sample of the rubbish being pushed on elons Xitter - few of bone spurs MAGAt army now joining in the pile on

Maybe theses imbeciles with the intelligence of a sloth should question why Russia was shooting missiles at Kyiv in the first place? Wasn't to take out military targets that's for sure.

Or was that whole missile attack fake news too?

Just need to go to the North board for an answer, that's where the majority of vatniks seem to roam.

The EU have halted integration processes for Georgia following the nation's pro-russian political turn, namely the adoption of fascist "foreign agent" laws analogous to those in the terrorist state. [SOTA TG]
Georgian Dream Party reaping what it sows....

In other words Trumps plan is the same as Putins, and also the same plan that any imbecile could have come up with.

Yet the simpleton in Trump thinks its ground breaking.
His plan for dealing with Xi probably involves the Philipppines abandoning the islands the UN courts found were illegally seized by Xi, India giving up land, Bhutan giving up land, the Taiwanese volunteering to go to re-education camps, Japan giving up it's southern islands etc. You could almost think hr was like Chamberlain focused on appeasement in the (foolish) hope for peace but in Trumps case it would be about Russian and CCP support for his business interests and ego.

Which hospitals are more newsworthy and despicable to bomb.
Ukrainian or Gazan?
Probably philosophical question of the decade
Given Russia invaded Ukraine, unprovoked, whilst Israel responded (in over the top fashion) from an attack, Russia deliberately targets civilians, whilst Israel it is a lack of regard for them, Russia should be the one that has the student protestors and others out on the streets. That Israel (a functioning democracy, for all it's flaws), gets the protests rather than Russia, shows there is a strong streak of Anti-Semitism running through them, whatever they say otherwise.

Which is why most would go with Gazan as most newsworthy, despite Israel not targeting them to deliberately kill mothers and children.

Or maybe it's because there is a reason to protest the Australian government in one of the cases, given it effectively condones Israel's actions without much opposition. Your view only works if we were supporting/condoning Russia's actions.

Except they are also/mostly aimed at the Israeli government. So why not the protests instead or as well, at the undeniably much worse Russian government?

Wouldn't really class Russian government as worse in terms of killing/harming civilians in general.

We have a much larger Middle Eastern and Arab population than Ukrainian, so there's a proximity/association factor for many.

I'm not sure of your point about the target of protests, it's also likely because Australia is seen as doing something about Russia, not doing much of anything about Israel.

Probably some tankie / America Bad level of analysis in there too for some students, whichever side the West is supporting gets some shade. Less sympathy for Ukraine, less charitability for Israel too.
