Well our depth in the midfield is looking pretty nice

Big bodied mids: Dawson, Crouch, Edwards, Curtin, Cumming

Small/medium mids: Rankine, Peatling, Soligo, Draper, Laird, Dowling, Taylor

Thats a big selection headache

Pedlar should hopefully be able to add to the small/medium mids

How long has it been since we had a genuinely exciting midfield group? The mid 2000s, perhaps?

Around 2012 had Danger, Sloane and still quality Thommo.

I reckon those last 3 are far better than just depth, especially Pedlar and Dowling. It’s good to have options for once!

Pedlar should be better than depth, but I'm concerned after last year.

Dowling I like, but he is slightly vanilla. Could easily get squeezed out by the other mids we've brought in.

3. Port picking a SF when they lost an AA HBF and already got Richards in the trade period

Absolutely. this lacks the punch but has more rounded depth where we dont lose anything through rotations.

He seemed like he would be vanilla but his games have been anything but, clutch goals, long range goals, standing up in moments and at the end of the game for a less than 10 game player in a bottom team, if that's vanilla I love vanilla.

He's definitely shown an ability to kick a clutch goal, I'll pay that. But he's a fairly vanilla player. Not overly quick, not overly big, doesn't rack up big numbers, isn't particularly eye-catching. He just seems like a good player to me. You need those on your list, but if we're bringing in the likes of Draper, he is the sort of player that is likely to drop out.

This is probably the cherry on the top to our rebuild. This balances it nicely and now we just need to get our talent maturing

I'm excited by what these 2 could become. If all goes well and they can avoid injury, Fog and Thilthorpe could be the best tall forward 1/2 in the competition. Despite a disappointing year for the club these two took their game to another level. Both look like becoming genuine A-graders. I would give Fog the vice captaincy.

Weird choice for Port to take a small forward when they also have an NGA small forward

I love that Draper is a pure mid

I love guys like Rachele and Curtin too but we've got enough versatile/hybrid types who can play midfield.

Nice to have someone who only plays midfield (other than Crouch).
