So Port traded up one spot to get Joe Berry.

I've never understood pick trades that move you up a single spot. Surely if the club you're trading with wants the player you're going to pick, then they won't do the trade. And if they agree to the trade, they weren't going to take them anyway, right?

West Coast just picked the best local lad with their pick, they were never going after the player Port wanted. Why give up pick 45 for nothing?

They were worried another club might trade up before them

Freo were offering WC a trade to get ahead of Port and take Berry, so WC in 5 minutes managed to screw over their rivals, get the player they wanted but thought would be gone and got another good pick in this draft. That’s a great 5 minutes.

Did they need a key forward? They've got Luko, Georgiades and Marshall

They need a big power forward to replace Dixon- Luko, Draper and even Georgiades are not number 1 big gorilla types = they are more lead up forwards. Georgiades is also more of a 3rd tall forward that can play taller. I would have gone for one of the big forwards if I was them.
