With the strong possibility Tasmania will enter the competition in approximately 5 or so years , the draft will become weakened beyond belief , as soon as 4 years time , so strategically our club should be stockpiling young talent , and that includes keeping a guy like Clark. Most people would see us in the bottom few teams for young talent , and we don’t want to be bottoming out , when an expansion team is coming in , and it’s players of Clark’s age that should be hitting their straps by then , leading the young talent we stockpile in the meantime. There are no guarantees in football , but giving those who flash talent like Clark an opportunity , is always the right move. We have a few who show nothing , and a few older types , that would be better choices to trade or delist.

I just can’t do the constant harping on the past.

Yes, we’ve been sh*t, for ages.
Yes, we’ve drafted cr*ply over many years.
Yes, we’ve made many, many mistakes…

But what’s done is done. Can’t change history.
All we can do is pray that we’ve learnt from past mistakes and that the people we have in place make the right decisions now.
Otherwise we might as well just give it away.
Yes!!!

But we don't have older types that would be worth a top ten pick if it came to it. Clark does that off potential.

I don't want him traded, but he has had a rough past 2 years

On SM-F711B using BigFooty.com mobile app

I would love to see us lock Owens and Windy into core rotational spots in the mids next year along with Clark. Crouch and Ross limited elsewhere so they'd stay in. Gresh take centre bounces and go forward. Use Steele pinch hitting and isolate him FF. At his best the bloke wins one on ones for fun
If we can snag a high end mid in the draft give him the Owens treatment from this year and throw him in the mix

And all of this with Marshall rucking. I reckon we've got the players we just need to get the mix right

We trade out a few and put together a generous bundle of points. Brizzy are taking 2 high end FS this year.

We table our future 1st, receiving a shiny new FB, FRDP and a future 2nd.
Turn Hill into Bruhn, probably via North's future 2nd.
From all reports next years draft kids coming through are looking very talented.
I would hold onto as many as possible.

Hard agree. That reads like the Sydney model where they have a lot of mids just rotating through. I think it’s ideal for development if you have enough quality players to do so, and a game plan which everyone is on board with. Will look even better with a top 10 pick thrown into that mix as well.

Ratts needs to free us up next year and take the shackles off a bit. Will go a long way to opening up our forward line and kicking a bigger score on avg which really dropped off.

Has anyone publicly said Clark isn't required?
Only a bunch of nuffies on SM and football forums.
On the contrary, the member who first mentioned it here has stated time and time again, the Saints are NOT looking to move him on however if we got a great offer we would have to seriously consider it.

I think this happens in all clubs quite a lot.

A bit like Collingwood, they now have an abundant of players that can go through the middle & it showing where it counts.

Christ, i hope hunter doesn't need another 4 years before he hits his straps , he has already been at the club for 5 years

The media floated it
The club should have crushed it
Even if they would take a top ten pick for him.
You keep banging on about the club needing to stop the talk.

I’ve already told you the talk is correct.

I’ll also go as far as saying this. Between Monday and the start of trade week.

Atleast one of Gallagher/Lethers/Ratten/Rath will get interviewed and asked about Clark.

They will say he is a big part of our future and best 22 and so much potential blah blah blah.

Conveniently stopping short of saying he is categorically not going to be traded.

It will all be about the offer and I think it will have to look like the Cerra deal for it to be done.

I think we are looking to package up and take a late first. Try move hill for a late first.

Go into the top 30 of the draft with a really strong hand.
