If we can turn Hill Clark and pick 27 into into a couple more picks between 10 and 15 (lot of pick swapping) that will give the club a great chance to add three highly rated 18 year olds up the pointy end of the draft to join last years trio and King. Combine that with the rest of our list and all of a sudden our profile is looking rather healthy moving forwards. Assuming our list management choose correctly.
I would be asking the question
OUT - Clark + Long + #27
IN - GCs #5 (Rankine) + #23 (Rankine)

OUT - #23
IN - GWS Bruhn

But unless you get something out of it, it's pointless. Hire some grown ups to run the footy department and then we might be able to trust the decisions that they make. The same idiots had to trade high picks for players a minute ago and now want to trade players for picks. We have ADHD as a club.
The footy dept and coaching dept and development dept all need to sit at a table and work out a game plan, who do they need, who can be let go and what we need to develop.
Then we can hit the draft picking up the players we need.

If the Pies lose tonight when does JDG nominate us?

We're probably only a chance if he gets a terrible injury tonight that hampers the rest of his career like Hannebery and the Pies don't want him anymore.

We are the destination club for damaged goods.

I think Longs best position is half back to be honest, but with a fit Clark and Coffield it's not a need.

As a forward he provided good pressure but doesn't impact the scoreboard enough. He and Butler are probably fighting for the same spot.
I hope we consider moving D-Mac to a HFF, to play that defensive/run-with role that Ryan Clark plays for Sydney, on the likes of Sinclair/Daicos/Saad/Hill/Salem/Dale etc.

So valuable to shut those types down and Dan has the speed, endurance, tenacity, team-first attitude and so-on needed for the role.

Just on Clark it seems impossible to imagine him getting traded because on paper he is an extremely average player. His last two years have been frankly crap. If you were to put the shoe on the other foot imagine trading a first round pick for a player with his stats.

The hope we have to have is that this may be some kind of wake up call for him. It's time to remove the digit, no doubt he has had bad luck with injury but you only need to look at him to see he isn't getting the most out of himself and there are consistent rumours that he's a party boy. Time has come to step up this pre-season, hopefully Ratts and Lenny read him the riot act he could be an amazing player.

The board need to shorten the leash. The footy department need to be put under control.

Why would gold coast do that? Essentially pick 5 for Clark and Long, one has barely played in 2 years and the other is inconsistent and hasn't found a proper postition just yet.

He's probably going to have to find a more permanent role. To me the wings could be improved and he needs to find his for ever home. The wings now include the high HF role and HBFs too so there are plenty of spots but you'd like a bit more pure speed and run off the true wings.

This time of year is called fantasy trade time. We want 3 first round picks and Petracca for Luke Dunstan, LDU for Long etc. It doesn't have to be realistic.

Lucky the experts don’t trade on paper alone

A lot of that may be true, but I’m also pretty sure he was coming top 5 in our B&F early last year, before injuries hit. So it’s really just been after that that his form has really dropped off and he’s only played 9 of about 32 games since the McKay hit. And he may have gone off injured in 3 of those.

Yep and I think he was top five in 2020 too, could be such a gun and I'd hate to lose him without seeing what he can do over a full injury free season (and pre-season).

Do you seriously think they don't do this? Results of it can be argued but to think they don't plan is breathtaking.

For every Dmac and Sincs there is a Billings, and Dunstan…

Players that have traits to suggest they’d be very good footballers but just don’t come on like you’d hope.

The difference between Dmac and Sincs is they’ve both got elite athletic traits and endurance. I don’t see that at all with Clark which shows why he doesn’t play midfield and is a liability on defensive transition. Much like JB and Dunstan. However, some of his skills with ball in hand can be elite. My concern is that he’ll end up being a GOP who has flashes of brilliance but never puts it together/finds a spot in the team.
Well hopefully he gets an injury-free season to put it all together next year. Because his ceiling is a lot higher than we’ve seen so far, through very little fault of his own.

If he left. We would be paying some of the salary anyway

The return not what we are contributing is the KEY to this entire trade.

Regardless of opinions. As an outside wingman. Hill can cut sides up and be used very effectively
I think we all expect we’d be paying some, but then we’d need a decent return. If we got something like the possible priority pick #19, I reckon we’d all be ok with that.

I'd rather take a lesser pick and pay none of his salary but that seems unlikely to happen.

But if it is Clarko who chased him and we are paying some salary, maybe we could get their future 2nd? Then try to trade into this years draft with it.
I’m the opposite. If money isn’t a problem, I’d rather pay a couple of hundred k and get a good pick.

I don’t believe that Hawkins is only on 300k for one second. He’s one of the best key forwards in the game and they’re always paid well. That’s less than the average AFL player I mean come on. Makes a good headline but that can’t be true.
Probably some sweeteners on the side…

The De Goey of late is very different to the De Goey we’ve seen most of the year. Really doubt he leaves but if he’s a chance I reckon we gotta throw the sink at him

We already have but maybe now we'll throw in the cabinets and a steak knife set although probably still won't be enough.
