Was odd watching that last quarter and being ambivalent as to whether we won or lost. Expected the Bulldogs to roll over us, particularly when they got on top in the 3rd, and was fine with that expectation. We’d played well and had a genuine dip

But it was the bulldogs who rolled over. Fantastic last quarter

It’s impossible to gauge the value of the belief a win like that provides - validating the game plan and illustrating what’s achievable when they buy in and bring effort. On the flip side, the big picture loss of the no.1 draft pick can’t be dismissed

Wouldn’t have been upset if we lost but not going to cry that we won. I’ve said it before the day I think we’re trying to lose is the day I stop supporting the club. (I do understand those supporters who are unhappy with the result but not those who are critical of the club for trying to win)

Really like the way we attacked the game albeit that some promising attacks were undone by poor skills. Less critical of players turning over the ball by biting off too much as at least they were being aggressive

The upside is we can cheer for the lads trying to give Hurn and Shuey the send off they deserve without that feeling of guilt attached to todays result. Let’s hope they bring the same intensity

• The scraping into finals and elimination final win caused the club to slide back four places in the draft - we picked up Jarrod Brander with that pick
• The week after, we got belted anyway by GWS

Bet you thought we shouldn't have bothered making finals that year and hoarded better draft picks, clearly 2018 we were never a shot as we needed more top picks to properly contend for a flag and the win masked our mediocrity, sack Simmo with his stale tactics and getting lucky etc etc

Please explain to me what the draft of 2017 has to do with this years draft. If you think that the win was the best thing for us today I disagree, 2018 we had a dominant Ruck a key Forward a great CHF and a good backline. The midfield wasn't bad either, however we don't have to much at the moment and losing all the options that pick one would have given us this year, is not very clever. When we a discussing why we still are shit in 5/6 years time this could be a reason.

Unlikely to win the wooden spoon.
Petch.His figures are not that high but he looks dangerous and his new role suits him and makes us look quicker.
Not having to play O'neil and Foley makes us look a lot better team when the players who replace them are decent.
Winning and especially away from home will hopefully be better for our youngsters development.
Trew looked good when he came on and hopefully gets to play for his career next week
We won't have to hear the Reid hysteria if finish 17th and the stupid hypothetical trades and why he shouldn't come west.

Negatives
All the sooks complaining about winning and maybe losing pick one.We will still get a decent top end pick
Having the media lamblast us after winning as to where was that effort all year
