So just another buzz word.

The word use to be “structure” but now we add “shape” to give the impression we know what we are doing.

Good to know.
Structure, shape, what next...

Like in soccer when people talk shape it is generally in reference to defence.

I'm assuming when Nicks uses that word he is likely refering to defence hence why it's McHendry and Murphy who are talked about as shape keepers.

It's about maintaining defensive shape and how quickly you can get into defensive shape when you lose the ball.

That's why he's so enamored with McHendry and Murphy he sees the key to winning as maintening shape.

This philosophy is simply wrong and broken.

Defensive shape just allows you to compete, class, execution and a genuine attacking game strategy is what wins you games.

Against Collingwood it seemed that the first half was all about shape and although we made it difficult to score we couldn't really score ourselves. The second half was more free flowing and shape was depriortised for attacking and risk taking.

I'm not saying we should forget defensive shape but it's not what ultimately wins you games.

It's the ideal shape your players make that suits your defensive or offensive structure. It shifts depending on where the ball is. For instance if there is a transition from one side of the ground to another the shape alters accordingly. This was explained to me using diagrams and using Geelong's shape keeping as an example. This was some years ago, so nothing new.
If none of that makes sense, ask Geelong.

The ideal 'Shape' is to pick talented players and win games...

Heard a couple of interesting bits over the last few days.
Firstly Laird was called in and spoken to be the coaches about his sulking (and general attitude) during games.
That is interesting. Without naming sources do you have believable insider info on that, please?
Secondly Nicks is fully blaming the recruiting team. He believes we aren’t good enough purely because he doesn’t believe we have the talent required.
Ditto, above.
I find it hard to believe that he loves high-effort, scrappy triers but would complain when they are chosen for him.
In his head I’m sure that explains his decision to only pick from the same 26 players.
However the senior team aren’t getting it done so what does he have to lose by trying some of the other guys? So stupid.
This.

I think people are suggesting Nicks should be changing it up and not backing in most of the same guys.
The young guys will be hungry to prove they are worthy of selection and if they perform, the older guys will have to step up to keep or regain their spot.

I'd love to see the Crows win 10 of the next 13 but we have a pretty good sample size that's telling us we won't.
Me too, this. (Welcome: you're a smart fella :sneaky:)

What a response or lack of response with any meaning. "Just keep on doing what you are doing" - what sort of teaching is that - and you know why? Coz he ain't a midfielder's arse hole.

Thankfully he isn't in the leadership group. Zero leadership qualities.
Yeah I don't think anyone has ever pretended Laird is a leader at the club in that way. By example at most.

Nah, he gets his in bulk from Chiko, but uses them for berley.

Chiko Rolls ...🤮🤮
Confession, I've never eaten a Chiko Roll (and I'm not convinced I'm missing out on anything).

Your intuition has served you well, grasshopper.

For starters, that yellow exterior crust is about 5mm thick all around, it's floury/unpalatable and because they're deep-fried it becomes a fat sponge.
The interior is unspeakably disgusting --- small lumps of gristle + probable animal lips/ears/sphincter + barely recognisable possibly-vegetables in some kind of pastey goop.

They used to be a go-to after a night on the turps; that, or a pie floater (<<drools like Homer J >>) outside the Town Hall or Railway Station @0400, before kebabs became popular.
