I would prefer to stand anyway for a big game. Generally I'm too excited to sit.
Could you imagine if the entire bottom tier of the MCG was standing room only on grand final day??
The noise of the crowd would be amazing!
I guess its about trying to get more then 11,000 members per side in.
11,000 seats = how many standing room places. I would have thought an extra 10,000 per side.
They could still cordon them off like bays. And only allocate a certain amount of tickets to each sub section ( like the current standing areas behind the bays )..
this would eliminate the mad crush forward.
How would you all feel about the MCG Installing 4 bays at either end with seating that can be taken out for the Grand Final to let more members in??
So the 4 Bays behind each goals become standing room for members only. How many extra people would you fit ?? Is it feasible ??
The AFL Could...
Has anyone ever wondered if the AFL would make more money ripping up the seats behind each end for the grand final ??? Take out 3-4 bays at each end. Charge $200. and fit heaps more of each teams supporters.
They should look at temporary seating that can be removed for the Grand Final...
4 couldn't do the same job. When clubs fold, people lose interest in the sport.
How many ex-Roy's supporters watch a game every week? Not that many
How many University Supporters watch a game every week? Most of those supporters are dead to the game now.. no interest at all
the second quarter of the 1998 grand final made the performance against port adelaide in round 22 look good. how many points can one kick? i remember carey hitting the post from 3 metres out trying to be fancy with a dribble kick.
the highlight of 1998 for me was the round 22 win over...
The point about Geelong is true. They make serious money out of a 24,000 crowd.
A team should only need to get a crowd of 10,000 or 15,000 to break even at ANY stadium.
You would think that if we are smart enough to smuggle ourselves into the MCG on Grand Final day then getting out of Barwon Prison would be a piece of cake.
I don't know what would be scarier. Dropping the soap in prison or dropping the soap around a group of Hawthorn supporters. :)
My mate pulled the suit trick to get into the 2006 Grand Final.
1. Rock up to the corporate entrance wearing your best suit with company tie about 10 minutes before the game
2. Ask politely if you can enter, you have been running late and the executive chairman is inside already entertaining...
It's time to go - Corey Jones.
Would be a handy pick up for a team like Melbourne or St Kilda.
Could there be a straight swap - Dal Santo for Corey Jones?
Great place - easy to get to, and to get into if you were from the eastern suburbs...
went there quite a bit... saw a north vs. st kilda night grand final there ( 1998 i think? ) and there was over 70,000 there and the atmosphere was just as electric as a final at the MCG....
The seats...
I would think that David Hale's late season form would have probably sealed the decision.
There isn't room in the forward line for Thompson and Hale. Thommo is 30 or 31, Hale is 23. As a long term bet, Hale is probably a better option ( until GC snap him up in a couple of years ).
The...
We could play Hawthorn, Carlton, Geelong and Essendon at the MCG instead of Telstra Dome.
Imagine if the Essendon & Collingwood games were at the MCG, we would have made a wad load of cash.. and played the Melbourne and Port games at Telstra Dome..
What is wrong with selling our...
Understood. I know times are tough economically, they are at the company that I work for as well. But I would pay an extra $100 on top of the membership if it meant the club was going to have a better year financially.
The club could look at offering a "Save A Roo" membership option with a...
or they could charge a special one-off premium of $100 on memberships and make more then three games in Sydney.
I wonder how many members would pay for a $300+ membership each season. Maybe they should do some economics modelling and work out whether its better to have 20k members paying...
Worried too. Sounds like Western Sydney will be the next Gold Coast for us.
We seem to just milk the AFL for money by playing in Sydney, Canberra and Gold Coast, but when it comes to a permanent move - we tell them to get stuffed..
Kinda like the girl at the bar you buy drinks all night...
But wouldnt the punter that goes to a lot of games have a membership that gives them priority in a ballot ??
Thats how the North ones work anyway. we have 8000 ticketed members - 14 games or 22 games in a season.
Those members have 'guaranteed' entry to a grand final should North make...
We need Petrie in the middle.. to be relieved by Hale. Thomson to play off the bench in FF when Hale is in the Ruck... There is no room for Hamish, No room for Leigh Brown, No Room for Shannon watt..
Hansen holds down CHB, Azza holds down CHF... Grant and Jones play on a flank each...
I'm just nervous about this week. We have a habit of not playing well against Bottom 8 sides.
Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. I beleive we can do it - but let us pray for no injuries this week.
The problem is that these grounds have been left to ruin..
Vic Park and Moorabin resemble the Roman colosseum now the concrete is starting to crack that much. Arden Street is grassy hills. Windy Hill is a mixture of the colosseum look and grassy hills. Princes Park and Western Oval ( the two...
Ideally you would want to play Thommo out of the square and Hale at CHF.. LT crumbing off Hale, and Matty crumbing off Thommo... then throw Shagga and CJ in a pocket each .... gives a 4 pronged attack in a diamond formation.. and LT and Matty have the speed to crumb of the guys in...
