    Clem

Very interesting case if it doesn't get settled out of court. It's different from Rehn/Luke O'Sullivan cases where ground conditions were at fault. The only similar one in recent memory is Carlton's Adrian Whitehead who played through major foot problems, but I can't remember the outcome of his...

Is Ponting now in the illustrious Tendulker/Lara class?

Weren't Michael Vaughan and his English team the only ones to boycott games in Zimbabwe at the 2003 World Cup? I think the answer's yes.

    Should the 'doosra' be banned?

This 15 degrees nonsense was tailored around Murali because he bowled with 14.9 degrees flex in his arm during tests at the Uni of WA, but his tested deliveries were significantly slower (20kmh plus) than he bowls during a game. Can anyone remember if Saqlain Mushtaq's doosra looked legit?

Article from Sth Africas mail & guardian

Just how many runs would Hayden have made in the series if he hadn't (apparently) batted like a halfwit????

Shabbir Ahmed banned for 1 year

I can't believe that the biomechanists have, for once, found something wrong with a bowler's action! Next they'll be declaring that some footy/rugby player deliberately kicked an opponent in the head and it wasn't just an involuntary nerve impulse.

    Ins & Outs - Finalised.

I guess Beau Muston will go on the long term injured list for at least the first half of the year, and maybe Dowler too. Gilham and Kane would obviously be ready to step up but are any of the other rookies a chance next season?

    Is Walker better than Cooney?

    Haha. No.

    The Forgotten Man of ODI's?

I thought this was going to be about Brad Young??? Anyone know what's happened to him? I don't mind who opens - Jaques, Hayden, Clarke - just as long as we don't have to put up with Katich.

    Orange balls

From memory, the day/night Shield games used yellow balls, not orange. Not surprisingly there were plenty of scores under 200-250. Orange balls were used for a couple of seasons in domestic one-dayers in the mid-80's. I think the orange balls have the same problem as white in that the colour...

    rate a player: Micky Conlan

Micky Conlan was great to watch - built like Mr Universe but quick and a good goal kicker. I remember footage of him going on one of his power runs during a game on a wet day and hurling the ball into the rain sodden turf so hard that it kept bouncing straight back up to him - I think he...

    Mark Mecuri comeback?

He might be in his 40's now but I reckon Alan Ezard might have one good year left in him too.

    Major Sponsor???

Azza is on the ball - LG is pretty close to becoming Freo's major sponsor.

    New Jumper for the hawks?

Actually we should go back to that diamond pattern...er, seriously I like the look of the 60's/70's style '06 jumper.

Peter Matera new coach at Freo?

Just for the record, Tony Micale was coach of Sth Freo when the club was aligned with the Dockers in 1999 (lost the GF to West Perth). He then moved to East Perth for the hat-trick of flags 2000-2002 - the Royals were aligned with the Eagles for some of this time. I think he coached East Freo's...

I was actually being facetious about Rummans, couldn't think of any other Vic batsmen...ah, Nick Jewell

What about Graeme Rummans, or is he from NSW?

A player can be delisted after one year

The player has to agree to be delisted and try his chances in the various drafts. As I understand it, Stribling would get paid out the second year of his contract which goes on Freo's 2006 salary cap and probably relocation expenses if he goes back to SA.

    Robbo Says He's Sorry

We know he didn't mean it, the apology that is, judging by his amusement after being sent off. It was too good an opportunity to let pass. Onya Robbo.

Worst players to put on the baggy green

Simon Davis (Vic) and John McGuire (Qld) are definite contenders. And we think our bowling stocks are bleak outside the test XI now????????

Luke's certainly in the eye of the media

They'd only be telling us what we already know. Hodgey seems to handle the media pretty well - it's good to see him getting the recognition.

    Australia's next test debutant - P.A.Jacques

Don't be so narrow-minded, I'm sure he'd take middle order if picked otherwise he could be 32 by the time an opening berth comes up. He's the sort of guy who can adapt his game. Greg Blewett played his best test cricket at no. 6 when he was opening for SA.

    Australia's next test debutant - P.A.Jacques

I wouldn't might Mike Hussey in the middle order at test level, would add some stability and his fielding is exceptional.

Tait, Cullen, Fergusen - Australia's future!

Ronchi is rated so highly that he isn't even in WA's Pura Cup team. Ryan Campbell is 34 and still preferred in the 4-day game. Luke's keeping is just OK, more of a batsman. It'd be Hartley or Crossthwaite in the long term.

Website on our feathered friends next door ..

Freo never had access to Lloyd or Lucas because of their age. If they picked up an uncontracted player the club from which the player came got a compensation selection and could pick the younger players.

    My new willow

I've used most brands over the years but I've got a preference for Millichamp/Puma bats - GOOSH1 was on the money about how good they were in the late 80's/early 90's when it was 2 blokes in a suburban factory making them. Gray Nicholls are putting a lot more wood into their top range bats...

Brian Taylor's comment in the IR series

I thought the Irish bloke had a better kick on him than Jon.

Cameron Hunter from Dees doing preseason with Hawthorn

Don't think you're deprived of keeping up with young Thomas Willday's (non) exploits over in Victoria. I live in Perth and I've never seen the bloke either. They don't telecast the WAFL ressies.

    Article on Hawks draft strategy

Ryder is the only genuine ruckman among them, Kennedy and Clark are big key forwards. One of the top young midfielders would be handy though.

    How pathetic is this....

I guess this thread proves what a humourless bunch of sad asses some Eagles fans are.
