Very interesting case if it doesn't get settled out of court. It's different from Rehn/Luke O'Sullivan cases where ground conditions were at fault. The only similar one in recent memory is Carlton's Adrian Whitehead who played through major foot problems, but I can't remember the outcome of his...
This 15 degrees nonsense was tailored around Murali because he bowled with 14.9 degrees flex in his arm during tests at the Uni of WA, but his tested deliveries were significantly slower (20kmh plus) than he bowls during a game.
Can anyone remember if Saqlain Mushtaq's doosra looked legit?
I can't believe that the biomechanists have, for once, found something wrong with a bowler's action! Next they'll be declaring that some footy/rugby player deliberately kicked an opponent in the head and it wasn't just an involuntary nerve impulse.
I guess Beau Muston will go on the long term injured list for at least the first half of the year, and maybe Dowler too.
Gilham and Kane would obviously be ready to step up but are any of the other rookies a chance next season?
I thought this was going to be about Brad Young??? Anyone know what's happened to him?
I don't mind who opens - Jaques, Hayden, Clarke - just as long as we don't have to put up with Katich.
From memory, the day/night Shield games used yellow balls, not orange. Not surprisingly there were plenty of scores under 200-250.
Orange balls were used for a couple of seasons in domestic one-dayers in the mid-80's.
I think the orange balls have the same problem as white in that the colour...
Micky Conlan was great to watch - built like Mr Universe but quick and a good goal kicker. I remember footage of him going on one of his power runs during a game on a wet day and hurling the ball into the rain sodden turf so hard that it kept bouncing straight back up to him - I think he...
Just for the record, Tony Micale was coach of Sth Freo when the club was aligned with the Dockers in 1999 (lost the GF to West Perth). He then moved to East Perth for the hat-trick of flags 2000-2002 - the Royals were aligned with the Eagles for some of this time. I think he coached East Freo's...
The player has to agree to be delisted and try his chances in the various drafts.
As I understand it, Stribling would get paid out the second year of his contract which goes on Freo's 2006 salary cap and probably relocation expenses if he goes back to SA.
Don't be so narrow-minded, I'm sure he'd take middle order if picked otherwise he could be 32 by the time an opening berth comes up. He's the sort of guy who can adapt his game. Greg Blewett played his best test cricket at no. 6 when he was opening for SA.
Ronchi is rated so highly that he isn't even in WA's Pura Cup team. Ryan Campbell is 34 and still preferred in the 4-day game. Luke's keeping is just OK, more of a batsman.
It'd be Hartley or Crossthwaite in the long term.
Freo never had access to Lloyd or Lucas because of their age. If they picked up an uncontracted player the club from which the player came got a compensation selection and could pick the younger players.
I've used most brands over the years but I've got a preference for Millichamp/Puma bats - GOOSH1 was on the money about how good they were in the late 80's/early 90's when it was 2 blokes in a suburban factory making them. Gray Nicholls are putting a lot more wood into their top range bats...
Don't think you're deprived of keeping up with young Thomas Willday's (non) exploits over in Victoria. I live in Perth and I've never seen the bloke either. They don't telecast the WAFL ressies.
