Re: Round 12 trades

I can't decide who to bring in this week have just under $200k so looking to bring in 2 premiums who are currently down in value.

My options on trade ins are:

Enright or Broughton for Duigan
Rioli, Chapman or O'keefe for Krakouer

All the players above are capable of big scores and would strengthen my team but it's doing my head in trying to choose exactly who to bring in... any advice appreciated.

What's the rest of your team look like? They are all viable options so I'd base the decision purely on the relative strength of your fwds v your backs.

edit: I think I misread your post. Are you saying you want 2 of the ones listed? If so I'd vote for Broughton and Rioli. I had previously thought you meant "should I upgrade a back or a foward" apologies, hopefully one of my answers is applicable :p

Re: Round 12 trades

Decisions Decisions. 9 trades left. First trades would leave my with Cotchin/Swan wasted on the bench, as my cover is good.

Stanley - Nicholson
Harris - Mundy

Mids: Selwood, Murphy, Priddis, Mundy, Judd, Cotchin (Swan, Mzungu, Jacobs)

Could straight swap Cotchin to Sylvia, Fyfe etc next week to not waste a bench spot

or

Stanley - Nicholson
Knights - Sylvia

Switch Sylvia into Mids this week to cover Swan. When Swan returns, keep the mids the way they are.

Mids: Selwood, Murphy, Priddis, Judd, Cotchin, Harris (Swan, Mzungu, Jacobs)

Forwards: Franklin, Sylvia, Goodes, Chapman, N Riewoldt, J Riewoldt, Petrie (Darling, Prestia, Smith)

I'd definately look to bring in Mundy over Sylvia.
There has already been some good advice about your forward line being much stronger.
Besides Mundy represents strong value @ 486k, he will probably hold his price with BE of 138. He is a lot more consistent, and he may even benefit if Barlow returns with the form he displayed before his injury. He may not be tagged and turn out some massive scores.

Sylvia whilst has MPP (you have chappy/goodes already) he has a break even of 167 depending on how you want to use trades later on you could snag him at round 400k in a week or two if you really wanted him.

Definately hit up Mundy is my advice!

What are your thoughts on Nicholson vs Howard as the backline downgrade option?

Yeah I am looking to bring in 2 of the players listed so one defender and one forward. That would leave my defence and forward line as

Def: Gibbs, Deledio, Goddard, Shaw, Newman, Grundy and Broughton or Enright

Fwd: Pavlich, Franklin, N.Reiwoldt, Goodes, Sylvia, Higgins and Chapman, Rioli or O'Keefe

Some nice ideas here!

I would even throw in Goddard into the equation of backmen if you dont already have him. Scored like 57pts in a quarter against Freo. If saints can get up and about he will be a decent snag at his price, will come down more though!

Enright vs Broughton = Perhaps go Broughton. My only reason being that enright may be rested in the lead up to finals. Also freo will be competing hard for a spot in the finals and with players to come back from injury he may end up scoring a lot more freely with less responsibilites.

As for the forwardline:
Perhaps Chapman, if you believe he is over his injury issues. He is supercheap considering he can rip out 120s consistently. He has been rested and could come out guns firing.
Okeefe isn't so consistent but can turn out big ones like last weekend.
Rioli is a nice one but i feel he shares too many of his points: hodge, mitchell, franklin etc.

But as mentioned before, would be easier to give advice if could see your team!

Re: Round 12 trades

Thinking:

Out - Stanley/L. Thompson
In - Newman

Out - Someone TBC
In - Callinan

Then bring in Fisher next week , Swan and Shaw the week after.

My plan too...
Toy -> Newman
Harris -> Callinan

Harris to Isaac Smith then Swallow upgrade to a premium (S.Thompson, NDS, M.Murphy) then focus on defence
Is I. Smith even playing though? I. Callinan will grab a spot in Adelaide's team for sure (and he's some $18K cheaper) whereas I. Smith will have to work his way back into an already strong Hawthorn side.
I'm planning on getting Swanny after the C'wood bye (for a gun midfield of him, Pendlebury, Ablett, Priddis, Mundy & Boyd) and didn't want to miss out on a bottommed out Newman. Looking at the ppg difference between the two options, it is almost negligable.
Am I wrong in my thinking?
?

Any reason for Callinan over Howe?
Cash?

Scanning through the adelaide boards, Callinan is still some time away from playin due to some injury.

Re: Round 12 trades

my 2 cents, I'd upgrade the midfield first. Mundy's at a good price - which going by the BE will likely hold for a week anyway - but mainly because your FWD line is stronger than your midfield. I'm basing that on 5 keepers in the mid and 5 1/2 - 6 in your fwd line (depending on how ppl rate petrie/jroo - I'd call them keepers at this stage, unless you have heaps of trades/cash)

Well with 7 trades after these two, Im defo not rolling in trades :D

I'd definately look to bring in Mundy over Sylvia.

Thanks for that. Mundy this week and then Sylvia in a few weeks for Cotchin seems to be better.

Wanted Pendles eventually but looks as though that may not happen :(

In regards to Nicho/Howard, I only went Nicho due to MPP. Howard will play all year i reckon, where Nicho will go when Tapscott returns. Jacobs will just swap whenever i need him to

Callinans first game back this week in SANFL from tearing the bicep off the bone

so y are you trading this week?
mids (including swan) looks strong - i don't see the point of swapping cotchin for someone of about same value and average etc, surely you have bigger holes than this?

I think he is trying to use Sylvia to cover a hole in the forward line. Not for the midfield position that Cotchin occupies.

Adding mundy into the midfield will make it more than decent.. but no point having cotchin on bench as cover. I assume that is his thinking.

Re: Round 12 trades

okay as dogs supporter you may have better knowledge, why is his JS doubtful?? after this week they'll be building for next year, rocket has already shown a desire to play the kids and howard looks pretty handy,,,, enlighten us please

Wallis is also a future star for the Dogs and has been yo yo-ed in and out of the team.

If we lose this week then yeah, Howard's JS is a lot better as the season is pretty much over. If they manage to win then I'm sure we'll be selecting to win rather than development.

I was also one person who thought Markovic had very poor JS and he's played in 8 games so far. So my judgment isn't set in stone. :)

I hope Howie plays for teh rest of the year.

seems strange to me, probably need to see the full team (hint post it for proper assessment) and Sylvia would surely only be at best 75% fit this week after going off early with a thigh/corky last week..+ he has a b/e of 154 this week

Re: Round 12 trades

Can't decide what to do. I need to bring in a mid this week and I want Pendles. Problem is he has a bye next week but if I don't get him now I'll cost myself 20 grand.

Should I just get Mundy instead? A few weeks ago I would have jumped on him but a couple of dodgy performances have worried me. I already have up and down guys like Montagna and Bartel in my team so I can't afford inconsistency.

Cheers - markovic j/s could be becuase of Lake and Hargraves injury, who from the magoos will take howards spot? (Gilbee), but he seems to be well and truly riding the i don't care train right along side Josh Hill

yeah i think he was gonna be hopin to cash in on him once he bottoms/levels out at around 400kish.. in a couple weeks! :)

but yeah full team assessment makes life easier!

Re: Round 12 trades

Forward line so far is Pav, N Riewoldt, Chapman, Franklin, Goodes, Petrie and Knights

I have a massive urge to get rid of Knights, but i'm not sure who to have a go at. I don't want to double up with two players from the same club in the same position, so my options are either Brennan = no byes left or have a go at Sylvia (even though he may not come up this week.)

who should I go...its doing my head in.

Perhaps take a look at G-money or Priddis, if you are not sold on Mundy (although i think he is at a good price and with barlow coming into the midfield to help share the load it might be beneficial in terms of taggers?)

I'm bringing in Mundy this week, so I think he's cheap at the moment and I'm hoping he'll do well the second half of the year as Fremantle get stronger (presumably) and Sandi returns.

Having said that Pendles has been a beast all year. I wouldn't worry about the bye, personally. Can you cover his absence? If you've got the money then you can afford to wait but I'm tipping he'll have a good game against Melbourne and then you're only covering him for one week - as everyone with him will have to do anyway. If it is between Mundy and Pendles I'd vote Pendlebury.

Re: Round 12 trades

Shaun who else is in your team... post it

Here we are (going for league win with 190k in the bank by the way, 10 trades left)

Delidio, Goddard, Adcock, Rawlings, Gibbs, Murphy, Lower (LThompson, B.Smith, Toy)

Ablett, Swan, Bartel, Boyd, Montagna, wright (Mzungu, atley, jacobs)

Cox, Smith (Sandi, Bailey)

Pav, Goodes, N.roo, J.Roo, J. Brennan, Okeefe, Rioli (Darling, McKernan, Lynch)

Gilbee would be a chance to return IF the Doggies start winning. Personally I think he's shot. Stack, Addison and Moles will threaten his spot.

Apparently Dahlhaus, who I've been talking up for weeks and Barlow have been elevated so expect them to play tomorrow night.

Best Case Team:

Backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Shaw, Adcock, Lower (Stanley, Puopolo, Pedersen)
Mids: Swan, Selwood, Murphy, Judd, Priddis, Cotchin (Harris, Jacobs, Prestia)
Rucks: Sandilands, Cox (Smith, J Tippett)
Forwards: Franklin, Goodes, Chapman, N Riewoldt, J Riewoldt, Petrie, Darling (Knights, Mzungu, Smith)
