Fair enough, i still don't see him netting us a Top 20 pick, just talking now not what he produces in 2014 as if he improves more and becomes a lot more consistent without a doubt could net us a Top 20 pick i think.
My VFL/State league comment was stupid. We'll see i guess
I just think if a team wants a midfielder similar to David they could go into the draft and probably snag one few years younger who could possibly turn into a elite mid with that Top 20 pick
We will have to agree to disagree.
If a team wants a midfielder similar to Armo they could go to the draft but there is a very good chance they would have to wait 3+ years for them to develop. Armo is ready to go and can slot into a team tomorrow and you know pretty much what you are getting. The kid you get with the top 20 pick might end up being better but if you need the return now, you might not be willing to wait that long. It really depends on where the team at and what their priorities are.
If David Armitage had a 2013 Jack Steven like year in 2014, would you still trade him Periphery ?
I haven't made up my mind one way or another based on his 2013 form so I can hardly decide if I would trade him under those circumstances. I was just pointing out what I think he could be worth.
But to answer your question: It really depends on what we can get for him.
Unlike Steven, he isn't a marquee player for us yet so he isn't instantly off the table, but it would take a pretty great offer to get (in this hypothetical) an elite inside mid from us. His age is an interesting factor in the whole debate - on the one hand he is in an age group we are sorely lacking in, but on the other hand he is old enough that if 2018 is the start of our flag window he would be nearly 30 and quite possibly wont be around for much of it.
It really is impossible to make a call either way, but if the positives outweigh the negatives the club would be silly not to trade him.
