realistically are either retiring in the next 12 months? Yeah 100% agree about our salary cap management in the 2000's but this time around we are set for many a year... as long as Ameet remains in charge of it.

Laugh when people mention Collingwood with Salary cap

They have Cloke, Pendlebury, Treloar , Greenwood , Swan , Adams , Reid , Sidebottom are all on really big coin.
Swan gives them a discount because of Veterans allowance.
So people are saying going forward Moore , Degoey , Crisp , Aish , Grundy are going to play for peanuts.

You are kidding.

Hurley would great get , Fisher ,Delaney & probably Lee won't be there, fits age demographic
would be a gift taken with both hands for me , as he not only can play back but forward.

and does not cost any draft pick.

People need to forget Hurley. He will not even be on our radar. We will be chasing midfielders hard (and trying to lock Bruce away).

Coach is happy with Carlisle-Godddard-Roberton-Webster defence and Bruce-McCartin fwd line.

I can guarantee that we would present a very nice contract to Hurley if he walked. You don't give up players of that quality that cost nothing more than some salary cap, which we have plenty of from next season.

yeap

interestingly gaff is still OOC. last i heard his manager came in to talk with the eagles and no progress was made

Yea Gaff's at that age where he'll be looking for the biggest contract of his career. He's a neat player. I'd love Steele tho he's another Cripps type that we desperately need

:thumbsu:

Talls: Carlisle, Hurley, Goddard
Smalls: Geary, Savage, Webster, Roberton, McKenzie, Newnes*

Is a flag-winning defensive set IMO.

And that's not even taking into account potential growth in blokes Rice and White.

Would we really want to go through the ringer with Dodoro again?
Richmond have offered Hurley 900kx5 years.

It would all depend on legal side, which some of the Essendon players will be at least exploring with lawyers and AFL. IF Hurley walks as a DFA we don't have to deal with Dodoro, apart from sending him a nice bouquet of flowers with a nice card.
And the figures quoted by media for 99% of players contracts are inflated by as much as 20%, they like to sensationalise and also managers play people like Barrett as puppets.
