The 2020 strategy and finals by 2018 is not a KPI

It's a target

They're two completely different things

But to think the target is just a marketing tool or a wank or what ever is wrong

It would have been lifted from the strategy pelchen spent 12 months preparing

I doubt the club sees it as a wank

Yep 100% this, it's a target not a KPI. I think they refer to it as a roadmap. Brendan Gale took over at Richmond and did a similar thing where he predicted finals then a flag and huge membership numbers starting from a really low point. He was pretty widely ridiculed at the time but he's delivered everything not all in the time frames he was hoping for.

Maybe the selectors should have given him a rest

I reckon he was a whipping boy on here, he dropped off but he wasn't terrible compared to the year before. He missed clutch goals that the year before he scored easily and his confidence really fell away but he really only had Minch, Wright and Lonie to take his spot away and the side obviously thought Mav's ability to drop back defensively added more to the side than the others could. I back him to turn it around next year, he seems like a great guy and a hard worker.

I really like your posts...but jeez I cannot read this one ( and I'd like to.)

Punctuation and paragraphs please ;)

ok here’s the thing… a KPI or key performance indicator is a measure to evaluate performance, that’s great for things such as how many ice-creams you sell or how many time you have to refund a customer but to put a KPI on something as fluid as trading is madness. The idea of a KPI is on personal performance when you add factors outside of the control of the person or people the KPI measures it’s not a KPI anymore.

The KPI is the measure of the performance not the result so Ameet may have done everything right in regards to his performance of his role but the external factors ultimately has the result not attained.. More so than business, football clubs are highly influenced by external factors and while the road to 2020 was sold to members as the plan it needs to be noted that any effective plan needs to be a live document, with the ability to change and update as external factors influence the situation ..

If it was as simple as A to B to C then every club would just "plan" to win every year. The football landscape is ever changing so A to B to C can turn into A to C to B back to A then onto E ... Looking at the results so far from our club; we have just broke the largest membership number in our history , the move to moorabbin is set of March next year , the club debt is under control , the deal with the stadium is looking much more profitable. From the football prospective the list has been turned over almost completely, the age profile is no longer the oldest in the comp, we have hit the draft with strong draft picks , we have identified young talent from other clubs and brought them over...

Yes we didn’t hit FA like we had expected, but again at the time the road to 2020 was written to where we sit today the way clubs treat FA has changed considerably. Its not just highest bidder stuff that it was when it started, clubs are putting more time and effort into protecting their potential players entering FA hence the only FA that are leaving are ones who are being pushed out or are coming with issues.
We can bang on and on about woe is us we are behind schedule etc. But the part of the plan where we were in control of the outcome has been a great success. Now we enter the part of the plan where things are ever changing and external factors dictate the results. Be confident that the ground work is done and is solid and that sets us up to achieve the next phase of the plan ... FA and trades is one direction available to take development and internal improvement is another if done well both will lead to the same place ..
Keep the faith we have a very under rated team that has a hell of a lot of talent ..
