They made a prelim last year with it. Their issues weren't a basic as the list this year. They're very hard to predict next year but they certainly could play finals.

So how might you succinctly appraise the relative values of each of the 1000's of trade options that are thrown up over the trade "week"?

"X" is worth whatever "Y" is prepared to pay? Great but trade week is boring enough as it is!!!

I don't have an answer, but that doesn't mean we should cling to something that is clearly not accurate. See the points value for three picks in the 30s, could probably get you a top 10 pick. Shows that the points are not based on reality.

Pick 6 and a future seconds is already overs for Hill, no need to add mayo on it by saying they turned down pick 2 for him.

I see this rhetoric in business all the time. If someone isn't at their desk or yelling at people and instead spending time doing lunches and schmoozing - they are called lazy. Then the pencil pushers and clock watchers realise that blokes like Gubby are getting it done. It is all about output - not input.

I went to training at RSEA many times this past season.

I'd always look up at the balcony and there was gubby.....taking notes or on his phone.

I'd always think...."what is he up to with potential deals"

I also would think...."I hope he's just not on his phone putting his lunch/coffee order thru".

Just listened to 1 minute of trade radio and the hawks aren’t in the hunt for hill, can’t get near what we’re offering.

Of Fremantle I guess the ball is well and truly in your court, accept our offer or keep hill.

No one will get close to what the Saints offered, either because they don't have the picks or don't have the need for him. It's only the Saints and Freo. All that matters is how willing Hill is to stay at Freo. If it is either way, then it gives Freo or the Saints a lot more leverage.

They over achieved. Bailey Fritzel, Spurgo, Stretch, the Wagner sisters and all these other Hams are terrible.

Before the trade period everyone was saying Brad Hill was worth pick 6 and maybe we get something back.
Then it become pick 6 and give them a 2nd or 3rd round selection.
Then Bell says pick 6 and another 1st round draft pick and maybe a 3rd round pick.

I would give up on Hill if they don't take pick 12 and a 2nd round pick now.

Keep 12 for the draft and bid on that kid that Fremantle want.

I would have much preferred the Langdon deal over what we are doing with Hill.

They might have overachieved a bit but they still played really good footy. They didn't overachieve to the point their best now will have them missing finals. Something clearly went disastrously for them this year. If they get it together again, they can definitely play finals.

Geelong acting as though Stuv is a liability for their list next year, at no point do they have to entertain the idea of having him on their list. What a joke that this narrative is allowed to be played out like this...

Future 2nd for Langdon and a nothing upgrade, so probably pick 30 or so in a shocker of a compromised draft - that's awkward and unders for Langdon.

Now compare that to the rubbish Bell tried to serve up to us yesterday! Dead set clown...

I'd like to get a trade through today for us, just to tick one off. Howard and Ryder seem the most obvious for pick 18.

For those wanting Bonar, I'd say if we were keen he would've been part of the pick swap deal. On that deal, and this is no complaint, but how much truth is there to the Crows rejecting the deal we got plus another first rounder for their pick 4?

Hopefully we have kept GWS happy enough for them to offer us Caldwell for a top 30 pick next year.

On Hill, I'd say we offered 6 and a 3rd of some description or Blake. We can go back to them and offer 12 and a second of some description, still slightly overs but comfortable overs for us imo.

I'm still surprised that Newnes didn't get any love, Sydney seemed a good choice for him as a FA and they probably could've gotten his compo pick too. What a fall from grace for a bloke tipped by many to be our captain.

What's left, Bruce, I'm guessing Dogs are waiting for us to get some more picks in to see what they can get, a three way trade with Port could be beneficial to all clubs.

Interestingly, Port have Crippa and Dogs have Bains, hopefully the St Kilda connections are a good omen.

I'm not sure how can you say with such certainty, even if you supposedly have links to St Kilda in some way, that they are definite ins. Hill doesn't seem like a definite in, just a probable in. Howard is very probable in. This is because it largely rests on the actions of Freo, Port etc.
