I’m actually in the camp of good riddance to jack Steven.

He has had his issues this year and we have been I believe more then accomodating and how does he repay us.

In my business I often get bullied by large clients to do extra work for nothing. We will make it up to you on the next one I get told. Yeah right, never heard that one before.

Whenever that happens though I still raise an invoice for fair value of the work undertaken, knowing full well it will become a bone of contention when it’s time to pay. But it is the best way to make sure that my extra effort on site is visible and appreciated and has a value attached, even though I still end up receiving nothing.

Lethlean needs to be raising this type of invoice to Wells for Steven by way of making it public where we value Jack at. Then when Stuv is getting 25 touches and kicking 2 goals we can point to our original valuation and remind them about the hit we took.

I’d be unhappy if the club made out they were happy to take pick 58.

Like everyone I'm sad Stuv is gone but it is more likely he will only ever be able to deliver cameo performances now.

To get back to the gut running freak he was I just can't see it. Everyone thinks that with family close by and the ocean out the front door he will be so much happier that he will then naturally want to do the running preparation to get back to elite levels. I think it is just as likely he'll want to go for a surf, visit family and friends and crack a tinny and put the running off.

He means so much more to us as a player and a person so it feels disrespectful. He'll never mean the same to Geelong supporters even if they buck their recent trend of finals failure as they already have their legends.

58 if that is what it is sucks but I can understand the reasons.

Could easily just sit on our list and live in Lorne if Geelong didn't want him

They might just be doing right by Jack and right by their football club. I know we are all biased but if you think about it, he is unfit and has had an interrupted year because of his struggles outside of football. If we were bringing in a player like that I would have concerns too. He is 30 and probably has at most 3 good years left in him. Wether he plays is a other story and the biggest risk Geelong are taking.

They've been wanting him for years. I'm sure they've got some concerns but I believe they've been playing on those to drive the price down.

Not sure about that. He requested a trade last year but apart from that I haven't heard anything. Plus why would they need a player like Jack? Ablett Selwood Dangerfield not enough? I even question how he fits into the side.

Why take him then? They're after a premiership next year and they'll have to spend salary cap money on him. They're not a charity.

This is really a situation that calls for conditional draft picks like the NFL.

If Stuv plays 16+ games they owe us a 3rd rounder or something like that. Unfortunately to my knowledge you can't do that in the AFL

if it’s pick 57 I’d certainly prefer three games out of him for the year. Chances are Pick 57 will end up being nothing, not even three games worthy of a four time best and fairest winner.

Maybe you're right but I'm way too cynical to believe an AFL club is taking on board for selfless reasons and to look after the interests of that player. They see him as playing a role with them, I'm pretty confident.

The problem is if we let Steven go last year, we then needed experienced player/s to come in and help us right away.. unfortunately last year we were not the destination club like we are today, so trading out Steven last year would only mean we go draft some 18 year old.

As a person who has dealt with severe mental health issues, I don’t think what I have said is unreasonable.
