Yes
Membrey plays as a key forward. It doesn't matter how tall he is. That's why key defenders line up on him every week.
He has similar contested marks, marks inside 50's and goals to Jack Riewoldt and Tex Walker.
If Freo play Blake in the guts and leave him there they will have a player.Oh dear god, on foxfooty:

When we had Armitage and Steven playing at their career best in the midfield , along with Reiwoldt and Membrey in the forward line, Bruce kicked 50.
I'm always stunned when people don't see how hard Josh works to create something.
Dougal was no trouble. Dougal is a terrific young fellow. I say this from experience. He came up to HK with Ollie for GF weekend 2016 nursing a repairing ACL. Port Woolwich and I spent several hours with them. We were impressed totally with Dougal and on top of the personal connection with him - he came over to us at the 2017 Shanghai game, sat down and chatted some more - we both wished and expected a solid future for him at Alberton.
The Club did not want to lose him. But what do I mean by ‘the Club’. It is not the same anymore.
For some reason at exit time Cripps was prompted to suggest to Dougal that he check the market. Dougal had no prior inclination to do that; he was happy at Alberton despite Hinkley’s proven total inability to know what to do with key position talls. The suggestion either originated with Hinkley or was interpreted by Cripps to originate with Hinkley.
Whatever. Once the suggestion was made ... and the offers came in ... Dougal thought, as would you and I, that he was not valued as high as he valued the Club, and human nature took over.
One more smashed brick in the wall by that busterd Hinkley and his incompetent employers whose names also start with K.
If Freo play Blake in the guts and leave him there they will jave a player.
Saints almost always played him out of position.
Best of luck GOAT
I think Bruce and Blake were told they might be traded and given visions of bleak futures to push them. We wanted to be able to pull out of the deals but the wheels were already in motion. Good clubs have depth and both would have been better than the return we will get for either.
The club seems to be going very money ball with lots of players we chased "statistically" underrated. It looks like we used that Hawks stats guy to target players. I can't see us having a massive improvement next year because for everything we have brought in we seem to have lost something too. Hopefully everything goes right though. We look to be focussing 4 years down the track though.
On Bruce being traded
Personally thought it was fine until the BING chase was a no go. Listening to Lethers last night it seems he is locked in on Marshall and Ryder swinging forward in rotation.
Are they enough though to cover a 35-50 goal a year forward? Listening to Port supporters Ryder isn't much good up forward apparently.
From another angle will Jones output be an upgrade on Bruces remembering at the end of the day the aim is to kick more goals then the opposition.
Surely we have options to send players to Sydney to appease them for Jones.
It's fine as well to say well Bruce wants to go to the dogs now but from accounts he wanted to stay until we pushed him out.
ThisWould happily delist Newnes and also Dmac and pay out his stupid contract extension before letting Acres walk. He'll you can throw in another 10 names from our current list.
nobody wants dmac. That would be the reason.
I agree on his work rate. Still I won't miss him too much when he's gone - I think it makes perfect sense given his age (8th oldest on the list) and position (one of 5/6 who can play as tall forwards). We'll be worse next year without him but should be better in three years.
At least they got near enough to a first rounder for him. We are giving away our equivalent fan favourite.Interesting quote from a Port fan.
I was just told Acres was informed at his exit meeting, the club wouldn't hold him back from testing the water outside.
Maybe someone can shed a bit of light on this, but it sounds to be on the money after the last 24hours.
If so it shouldnt come as a shock to Blake to be traded, then again it is late in the trade period and it may have rattled his cage a little
The offer we have from the Bulldogs suggests there is no currency.
Spot onNot that I mind losing Acres, but if Freo had already agreed to the deal, why would we then send a contracted Acres to them as an "add-on"?
Colin Young just got acres 2 more years he otherwise would not have got
He's done well acres for what his actual output is
I worry how much we are valuing our own stock vs the incoming stock
Buying high selling low
The port trade was an A+
The reported stuv, hill and acres trades are a D-
Hes contracted so there needs to be something okish coming back. Like a late 2nd this year. If not we cancel out the future 2nd and a future third is used instead. For me the Hill and Acres trade is only bad if we get nothing back at all which seems unlikely. Acres would be lucky to fetch us a 3rd rounder on his own unfortunately
So who can give me instructions on how to change your username?
I'm rattled, I get it, but I'm shattered.
This
So yep trade period looking good, but that McKenzie extension looks so bad compared with not offering acres that contract. I’m absolutely filthy. What makes this sport is the people involved and the emotion.
Sure we want that flag, but would you really swap the experience of players l
That Hill deal is crazy overs for a non elite player, rather a very good one.
That is true, yet we have him a 3 year deal a few months back. Not Gags finest decision
