Bruce has yet to be traded and 32 has been rejected.

I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion about Acres. He is easily worth a second rounder. He has a lot of talent and when he becomes an A grader at Freo everyone will be laughing at us.

Not poor trading, they have a strategy. They think it will work.


They're finding other ways. Trading out our future pick isn't a good idea due to the points we need next year. Pick 32 + Jong for Bruce? no worries, where do I sign?


I would've split the 13 into Keath and second-round pick. Then use that second-round pick on Bruce and boom, done. Obviously the doggies know better then me, so I'll have to just trust them on it. Doesn't matter what I think or would do

Strategy is to offer a contracted play 4 x 750 then try to lowball.

it's the Acres + future 2nd rounder one that stings as it currently stands.

that's where we need to smooth it out somewhat. lodging two trades:
hill AND THEN acres, will allow bell to save face and get us what we want

OR the bruce trade can do it

We can’t go to the draft forever, topping up with mid age players is perfect for where we are at.

I got on Saints yesterday at $51 to win the flag, hoping we have a great start and the cash out is healthy!

How is he "easily" worth a second rounder? third rounder is perfect value for him. Not even a given that he will be an A grader at Freo either. That's just conjecture.

spot on. which is why these reported trades should be taken with a grain of salt. i don't think as it's currently reported is any good for us:
OUT: Pick 10, 2019 2nd Rounder, Stuv, Acres
IN: Hill, 2020 3rd Rounder

your initial reaction yesterday was spot on: its overs for hill.

if it ends that way we've lost. with what Gags, Lethers and Gubby have done to date. i doubt they're happy with that. i think there's more to play out. which involves getting Jones/Butler and getting back into the 2nd round this year.

i think they're after something in the 2nd round this year plus Hill, Howard, Ryder, Jones, Butler. with the end outs being Pick 6, 2010 2nd Rounder, Stuv, Bruce, Acres, plus the later picks like 3rd and 4th rounders be it this year or next. which would be a good result.

You are looking at it as a single deal. We wouldn't have pick 10 if we didn't split 6 into 12 and 18 and if we didn't split 6 we wouldn't have Ryder and Howard. Everything is linked.

Saints have had more change than just about anyone. Near full rebuild in 6 years and half in 3. Change we are good at, stability not so good. We will have 27 players taken off the 2017 (including rookies) list after this trade period if it goes as suggested. That's not doing nothing, that's probably over doing.

Doing a trade ban until 3pm on the last day is f**king stupid given that many trades hinge off each other.

I get that AFL House would have expected more deals to have been done in the previous few days but now they face a logjam of trades actually getting lodged (i.e. the paperwork getting done) and tbh it probably means there's more than a few that will fall on the wayside due to there just not being enough time to properly explore the permutations after the 'big' deals (which in this period would be Hill, Papley, Daniher, Martin) get finalised.

People are at work anyway, it doesn't build drama or excitement. I'd support trade period being three days in future.

I thought it was two separate trades.

if it is 10 plus 2020 2ndR plus 58 for Hill that's a fair deal IMO
If it is Acres for 3rdR 2020, that's also fair.
58 is a nothing pick that won't do anything for it so might as well give it to Bell and let him put a feather in his cap.

And if you do pile it all together then 10, Acres, 2nd round 2020 and 58 with Hill and 3rd Round 2020 back is pretty decent.

Again, if we finish top four and they win the spoon, those picks will be close together anyway and worth **** all anyway.

He hasn't become a decent C grader at the Saints in 6 years, I think we'll be fine

He is not worth a second rounder even a late second.
Freo bottom 4 next year so its an early third and with other pick used for FS and academy could be high as late 30's early 40's.

And lol at him 'becoming' an A grader. The guy is the biggest cocktease in the game.

Happy to move him on take his 500 large.

Keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. We haven't played finals in 8 years, keeping this list together would've netted us the same results.

Not really, we have done similar with Dougal Howard. Please think about what you are posting.

Except we paid what we had to to get the deal done. Port essentially got a first round pick for Dougal. Dogs want to pay the player but then not pay the team that holds his contract.

i wish we had this review on richo's contract extension. god what a period it was. the period of insanity.

It is one or the other though. I think George was looking at the trade as 10, future 2nd, 58 AND Acres.

Where as Acres was thrown in late for a third rounder which is exactly what he's worth.

If we were to give away a 2nd for and Acres wed be dirty.
