Not really, might as well take 32

Maybe 32 and a future 2nd for Bruce and a future 3rd.

It will all come down to what Sydney want though.
That might work actually - then we're not giving our own future 2nd to Freo, we can give the bulldogs one to them. We still get a 2020 pick in the second round

Doggies give 13 to Adelaide and get 23 back - that values Keath at pick 42 which is unders IMO

Then trade 23 to Saints for Bruce

I think everyone is happy then.

but no - the dogs are too stubborn. Hope they end up blowing both their deals and fall out of the eight next year.

I'd love to keep Bruce for 1 more year but not sure how we get Jones. Any ideas? We would need a 2nd / future 2nd

Could we bundle up our 3rds next year for a pick around 30???

What are everyone's expectations on next year provided we get these deals done today (Hill, Jones)? On average each year 3 out of 8 teams drop out of the top 8. And I honestly can't see the teams that finished ahead of us (Port, Crows, North, Freo) making the jump. Hawthorn I could, maybe Carlton as a smokey but even that would seem unlikely. Melbourne? Find it hard to see them rocket up the ladder again as well. Playing a similar draw to this year, and adding some decent players I could see us as a 11/12 win team, putting us on the cusp of finals. Does anyone else see it like that or should expectations be lowered or raised?

I think we are still a couple of years off and a lot hinges on how quick Hunter Clark, King, Marshall etc take to come on. This next year will be a holding pattern unless we have mass improvement and injury luck. Still need another gun mid from somewhere. Jones is okay but like a slight upgrade on Dunny. Bruce gone is a huge hole because he and Membrey were our two highest scoring players by a huge margin. Brown and Dougal will be pretty much a like for like so don't see us bringing in a huge upgrade. It should be like this year with Jack Steven with Hill in. If Hanners stays fit we are a lot better off.

Forward line will need to work very hard to fill the gaps and we lose depth with Acres types going so vulnerable to injury when our depth has held us back recently. I see us around 6 to 10 wins. Improve without making up any ground until kids come on. All our quality is very young.

If we get a 3rd round pick back in the Hill deal (likely) we probably could still get that deal done.

If the AFL are forcing us to wait until 7pm to complete the Hill trade, how can we get other trades done involving picks from that initial trade? It’s not like we have enough to do already in a short time

Trades can be completed before 3 but no paperwork can be lodged... which I suppose always allows some purple fool going back on his word again.

So any trades dependent on others can be agreed to but not officially signed off by HQ.

Didnt we swap our 3rd next year for a fourth?

Ha Ha Ha Ha
“They said all along it’s going to be a first-round pick or Dougal Howard stays. We spoke to [Port Adelaide head of football] Chris Davies about that and he said Dougal needs to get his head around staying at Port Adelaide,” Cornes told Trade Radio on Tuesday afternoon.

“Well Jason Cripps has absolutely buckled to James Gallagher who is an inexperienced list manager. In this deal, the Saints have cleaned up.

“You watch Dougal Howard come back and bite Port Adelaide. This guy, I think is a potential future All-Australian and the Saints have got him for next to nothing.

Easy bundle it up into a multi team trade involving Essendon, Geelong, Bulldogs, Adelaide, Carlton, Sydney St Kilda and Fremantle.

Essendon lose Daniher and get picks 5 and 9, Carlton get Papley, geelong get Stuv, Bulldogs get Bruce, Adelaide get pick 13, Saints get Jones and Hill, Freo gets 10 and Acres and Sydney gets Daniher and 23.

Done

The AFL yet again has no foresight and just gets carried away with short term gain.

Of course everyone will be following it between 3-7 30 today and the AFL will love the saturation but it has no feel for the fans' mood. I think the general footy public has found this trade period particularly boring and frustrating. Everyone is already invested so they have continued to live and breathe it each day but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a drop off next year.

Fk the east coast. AWST baby!

Imagine Kingy trying to get that trade correct... he'd have an aneurysm

I didn’t think my post was so obscure -
It’s the flow-on effect.
We get these players, they help us to improve and hopefully get to finals.
That makes us more attractive to future good / great players etc

For a club to have missed out on finals for 9 years to be able to get 5 requests (immaterial whether it’s the money or not) is pretty good going I would think.

All I know is, something different needed to happen, because just picking up a couple of new players in the draft this year wasn’t going to make a big difference.

I think you build your premiership list through the draft still. I think what we've done now will give a sugar hit but at some point we still need to draft some guns if we want real success. We need to get probably 3 Hannerbury quality players still and the draft is the way to get them unless you want to pay overs which limits retention.

next year was always going to be a lull year, Ratts will need time to get them playing how he wants, get his line ups figured out and then for the group to adjust. I'd expect a more competitive side but similar on wins

To use this week’s popular term, this is “unders”. I see us a couple of wins better than that at 8-12.

Bain's is way overated by many on here.

Ameetos did a fantastic job in rebuilding a list that was in an absolutely deplorable state.

Many on here confuse what Ameet did, with what Trout did, with what Pelchen did, with what happened before all of them got into the club (hint; that's where the mess started).

That's fine if you want to keep 13, but you need to find other ways. Trading up, using a future pick, trading out a player.

It is a poor look to offer big contracts and then not be willing to at least give a fair trade in return.
Agree, also there will be 12 picks before them so how do Dogs know they get this Super player.
Keath and Bruce would put them easily in Premiership contention in 2020,in my opinion

I hope clubs have just got all their paperwork done. Lodge it spot on 3pm and leave. Silly stuff by the AFL

Except “nothing” is a first rounder.

Yeah the wins will be great but I'd be really pleased if we can reduce the gap between our best and worst performances. Last year's percentage was indicative of our inconsistency and inability to compete against top teams.
