From memory Gags did at the time was suggest we need a replacement for Robbo who went down.

Toce was the SA talent manager at the time and he and Libba were both in contact with Wilkie.

Gallagher was a few weeks into his role fresh out of a banking job in Melbourne so I'm not sure he can claim that one?

Anyway, we can't expect to continually bring in quality recruits and also keep everyone we've drafted in the 50's and 60's.

When you start to build a strong list and is going to push a few out.

Liberatore seems to have done well with what he's had. He apparently unofficially took the reigns in the 2017 draft when he was the Vic manager. He aced that draft and has managed to bring in some pretty good talent since despite having a weak draft hand.
Thats a very fair comment

Hope i don't come off too negative. I think its been another excellent trade period. Probably a good thing we get a bit more stability with less players coming in. Also good to get some draft action again.

Much rather get the big trades right like crouch than the minor stuff like hind
I dont think you have at all. Not everyone will be happy with everything the club does all the time. That’s life.
I think that what we haven’t done this trade period is almost as important as what we did do. Our future picks for next year all intact (apart from round two but big deal) and we have a good chance to aim for a big catch next season.

A little bit of an idea of our depth chart. Looking decent.

Should get into Darcy Moore's ear about coming across next year if he wants to jump off the burning ship at Collingwood
Probably on 1.2 million, maybe they can pay some of his wage too 😀
We should be eyeing of some fringe doggie players they are going to stacked this year.
could pry one out next year
Ed Richards anyone ?

When you look at the year 2020. You see list improvement's from Battle, Butler, Clark, Coffield, Howard, King, Long, Marshall again, Paton, Ryder, Steele. If we can get hopeful improvements out of Billings doesn't fade out, Brynes, Bytel, Clavarino, Connolly, Hannebery stays on the park, Hill, Jones. Add Crouch, Gresham, Higgins & Webster, Geez, top 4 must be a possibility, yeah. And yes, I still believe Webster could be in our best 22.

The afl are a joke of an organization. Well done to Gil for organizing a competition this year, but he is running a circus in all other aspects.

If there were to be another trade period I think Collingwood would be within their rights for major compensation. Dishing out a fire sale before they had the info needed to make informed decisions.

I wouldn't be too disappointed on missing Treloar.

Sounds like the dogs are paying him 800k+ x 5.

"Collingwood will pay a small amount of Treloar's salary. The Dogs had asked for $1.5 million to be paid over the next five years of the life of his $900,000 a year contract. While the Magpies will pay a something of his contract it is not in that range."

We could be confident of landing a much better fit (and less injury concerned player) than Treloar like dunkley, kelly or merrett with 800k x 5 next year.

Is anyone able to post the summary of what we got compared to what we gave up in this trade period, I have spent time trying to find it but I couldn’t and would like to reference it to my mates

Who are the player that went in them picks

Jacob Hopper, Griffen Logue, Ely Smith and Mitch Georgiades.

Honestly, the years of service they got from Treloar alone looks enough to make this whole exchange look ok.

They also got Side, a couple of picks in the 40s and the picks they got tonight.

If you look at the best players they COULD have taken with those picks it gets a lot uglier. But pick for pick, they haven't missed much.

Signed Crouch and McKernan as Free Agents

Traded Pick 17 and a 2021 2nd for Higgins and a 2021 4th

Hind and Pick 77 for Pick 67 and Pick 74

In:
Crouch
Higgins
McKernan
Pick 21
Pick 67
Pick 74
2021 4th (Rich)

Out:
Hind
Pick 17
Pick 77
2021 2nd

Solid B+ effort IMO.

Snag a big fish next season and I would retrospectively upgrade the rating as one of the intangibles we achieved is flexibility going into next season's transfer markets.

St Kilda

Who left: Nick Hind

Who arrived: Brad Crouch, Shaun McKernan, Jack Higgins

2020 NAB AFL Draft picks: 21, 64, 67, 74, 93

Future picks: St Kilda gave its future second-round selection to Richmond as part of a deal that saw it secure Higgins, but also received a future fourth-round pick in return.

We say: St Kilda is again one of the big winners from the Trade Period. It bolstered its midfield by luring Crouch as a free agent, secured key position depth by signing McKernan, and added a key part of its future through a trade for Higgins. Although the Saints were forced to slide down the draft order to pick No.21 to secure Higgins, they kept their first-round draft choice – something the club had previously described as a "non-negotiable" during the Trade Period. Look out for the Saints in 2021. - Riley Beveridge

Grade: 9/10 (ranked 2nd)
