Very happy to move him on for a junk pick to be honest.
I think that’s what will happen if Treloar comes into play like I’m expecting and how Leathlan is positioning.

check out his interview last week and compare to this morning. Subtle changes but you can see how we are positioning this.

Greetings, I come in peace.
We've been having a discussion over on our board about a potential trade for Higgins, and I'm not sure if my rose tinted glasses are impairing my vision on this one, but let me know what you think.

Richmond gives: Higgins and Pick 21 (was 19)
St Kilda gives: Pick 17 (was 15)

The consensus on our board that it wasn't fair for us, for only a four spot upgrade. I believe its fair because those four spots could be crucial depending on who is available.

Don't flame me please lol

Understand the thought and that probably undervalued him but we want to keep our first for the draft so we can trade ours next year.

Just a bit of a visual indicator of our depth chart

For all the talk about trading Ross away, I still believe he is an important part of our rotations. I would still have him in our best 22, but it is almost certain that one of Crouch / Hannebery / Treloar would be unavailable on any given week. As such, I would want to keep Ross.

Dunstan only comes in for when at least one, and probably both of Steele and Crouch are unavailable. In those very rare games, I believe we would value getting gametime into Bytel over the slight edge Dunstan may currently have.

I believe the list sizes are going down to 38 and assuming we still need to take 3 picks (1 of them can be used upgrading Wilkie), we probably need to get rid of 5 players from the above.

I would be looking to get any draft value we can get out of Webster / Lonie / Dunstan / Hind (get rid of at least 2)

Delist and rookie Roberton / McKenzie

Think most here would take that in a heartbeat. Doubt Richmond would do that though

I may be wrong, but I think our first round pick is off limits unless we can secure another one somehow. We need to use one this year so we can trade next years for potential B.King.

again, I may be mistaken.

That's a good effort from a non-St Kilda supporter.

I would say our best 22 next year looks like this:
B: Paton - Howard - Wilkie
HB: Long - Carlisle - Coffield
C: Hill - Jones - Hannebery
HF: Gresham - Marshall - Billings
F: Butler - King - Membrey
Foll: Ryder - Steele - Crouch
INT: Clark, Battle, Ross/Treloar (unlikely), Higgins/Sinclair

Like previously mentioned, Paton is a lock for the small defender spot. I don't believe Geary will be captain this year. Based on talent, he is not best 22.

That is about right. Also remember that invariably that one or two players will be out injured, or even "managed"

ie You would not want to play Ryder and Hannas in every game in 2021. Even Crouch would be prudent to rest every so often. Plus Gresham with his problem of this year should probably be rested too.

You could envisage the Saints resting one mid every week. This then sees say Bytel also getting regular games but not every week.

So you want more than 22 players.

It is really important that we use a first round pick this year. Assuming that pick 19 is your first round pick? (I think there was a GC priority that extended the first round), then yeah this would be a more than reasonable offer.

I think ours is still technically a first rounder. It's just been pushed out, but I heard on Trade Radio that you guys can trade your first round pick this year. Not 100% sure though.

I think we would absolutely do that.

If we trade this years first round pick, then we cant trade next years which is why we want to use one this year.

Hundred percent would do that deal - that's still a first round pick. No way you would go for it though.

Yeah, im not sure what you guys have in terms of later picks, but maybe throwing a third or a fourth back our way would make it relatively more even I guess.

We'd be fine with that - but we have nothing until round four

If we trade this years first round pick, then we cant trade next years which is why we want to use one this year.
Is that so? Even if we get another first rounder for it?

I claim, for Electoral Vote purposes, that St Kilda has won the 2020 Trade Period and the 2021 AFL Premiership.

We are going to win big. We are going to win so much that you're going to be so sick and tired of winning. You’ll say ‘Please, Mr. Satan, we beg you lethers, we don’t want to win anymore. It’s too much. It’s not fair to everybody else.' But Lethlean is going to say ‘I’m sorry, but we’re going to keep winning, We’re going to make St Kilda great again, again.”

They could well do something like that , but they could also want to stay as high as they can because they could look at getting a good kid in the draft / we really need to get a key position player to replace Carlisle or can play at CHF if needed.
The recruiters most probably have plans for the first round pick , it will be interesting what they do with it.

Robbo and Webster are both better and more flexible players when fit than Geary and Savage no question in my mind. There's a reason we signed Robbo for such a good deal last time maybe we should give him more than 1 season interrupted by covid to make a comeback to AFL?
