It looks like Billings could be gone , he was at one time looked upon as one of the teams leaders now he is not even in the the leadership group.
Usually teams like to sign up there good players before the season starts and for Billings not to already sign means he could be wanting far more than what we are willing to offer.
He is not the star we wanted but he doesn't miss too many games and usually gives a good effort.
He is a fairly reliable type, most of us wish he could play better but I dont think he can. I would like to see him closer to goal, he has 13 but he can do better than that. He is down on goal assists as well. May be gone!!!

The trade is

Pick 6&16 to GC for Ben King

Saints trade pick 5 to Lions for 16&18
Pick 6 compo for Billings

Send 6&16 to GC for Ben

Keep pick 18

We lose Picks 5 & 6 & Billings

For Ben King and pick 18

Love the idea but we will be lucky to get a pick for Billings in the early 20s and the Suns will not let Ben King go until his contract is completed.
He is a piece we need but we will need to wait another year.
Hopefully we get something decent for Dunstan and Billings and if we do I'd try to use it to get a good experienced player to more than replace them.
I would attempt to get a few key talls like Wiedeman , Ratugolea and would take Josh Gibcus in the draft.

Key defender
195cm/84kg
4/4/03
Greater Western Victoria Rebels/Vic Country

In a draft pool without the top-end talls of previous years, Gibcus is a standout. The key defender is aggressive in the air, flying for his grabs and being an intercept weapon in the back half. He also uses the ball well out of defence and has also been thrown forward on occasions. Gibcus' form saw him added to the NAB AFL Academy squad earlier this year and he's continued to be an exciting defender for clubs to track.

and if they want a midfielder Ben Hobbs

Midfielder
183cm/80kg
16/9/03
Greater Western Victoria Rebels/Vic Country

Hobbs has wasted no time in reminding people of his talent in the past two weeks. After being sidelined for two months with an ankle injury, the hard-edged midfielder returned to the NAB League and was brilliant with 34 touches and 2.2. He backed it up with a best-on-ground showing as Vic Country captain in last week's trial match with Vic Metro where he had 37 disposals, also pushing forward to kick two goals to complement his midfield display. Hobbs is a hard-at-it inside ball-winner who has power and aggression and a big work ethic. Think Taylor Adams, who he trained alongside at Collingwood in the pre-season.

What would Weideman cost and could he play KPD?

On Pixel 4a using BigFooty.com mobile app
Shorter version of Max King - not needed.

Prefer we focus on specialist CHB rather than trying make one - Gibcus sounds about right.

PS Don't want to tank but if Billings is gone (on good coin) I hope our opposition have blinders against us for the rest of the year.

Do you think GWS would be interested in Billings?
They have two ten picks this year (currently #4 and #7).
Would they prefer mature talent, or stick with youth?
Hard to say because l don't know their team well enough, but is their window still open?
At this point I'm not sure who would be interested in JB as I've gone off him completely so am biased to the negative.

🤮 🤮🤮🤮🤮

If we actually land picks 5 & 6 and don't use them at the draft l will personally burn StKilda FC to the ground.

This draft has too many goal kicking mids with pace to trade out of.

If JB goes then hit the draft hard. If Dunstan goes then that’s the pick to use to entice a ready made player (key defender preferably).

Sit tight Bing, see you in 15 months.

But can they kick well with their preferred ? Can they use both sides of their body in relation to handball and kicking skills? Apparently now all players have to have these skills before they join a club because they wont be taught at the AFL club they join. Do they have a natural running speed or quick off the mark? They are the skill sets and natural attributes they need to have and this club badly wants. If they have got that, well sign them up immediately if not sooner.

Dead right, there are no gimmes and especially now that the games are all against top 4 sides or sides in the same position as us, desperately trying to get a few wins to make the 8

We are still a roller coaster side. You never know what to expect. We could win all our remaining games or lose them all and anything in between.

I like the way you have covered every conceivable angle on our way to the top......or bottom

I honestly have no idea what we could do, no scenario is too far fetched for this side. Just when you give up they throw you a bone, get excited and cancel any holidays around the finals and we lose to a rabble.

Knowing the Saints they'll beat WC and prolong the hope for a few more weeks but only just long enough so that the heart break really really hurts when they lose the last round and we miss out on percentage or something.

Winning form was good form and we lost a game we really needed to win. I wont be backing them with my hard earned now. I think the road ahead is too tough.. Could cause an upset against WCE but I dont think so. We have too many injuries, players out of form and dont have a big star player to get us over the line in a close one. Even Carlton will be tough now. Other clubs are starting to get their injured players back in a week or two.

Would be close to a 0% chance of us having those picks.
Absolute bullshit

If we have pick 5 in draft, why would Billings be a comp pick directly after ours.
Big contract at another club, only 26yrs old and a top 10 pick. Would be in our highest paid players also.

I have NO IDEA what most people on here think Billings won't attract a pick directly after our first. Beggars belief. If we were the Cats, Bulldogs, Lions, Giants, Tigers maybe not, but we haven't had a break in a long time

Also secret herbs and spices need to consider

- Saints haven't won a flag in 100,000 years
- In debt and need success
- want to use the pick to trade to another club who could use the pick to attract mature talent (GC)
- The exec want Saints to do well

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE AFL WILLING TO RIG THINGS

Also to use pick 5 and 6 for Bing and still have pick 18 is brilliant. Would you trade Clark and Coff for Ben King..?? Probably.

There is a lot of conspiracy going on here but they dont just give you a top 10 pick because you have historically sucked. Thats not how it works.

Also unsure about how we are getting a 3rd first round pick in this situation, but I'd guess that would also be incredibly unlikely.

Disagree

Melbourne - Frawley Pick 3

Hawks - Buddy Pick 19

This criteria is very very very subjective

Compensation
A club that has a net loss of players transferring to/from other clubs as free agents in one transfer period is entitled to compensation via National Draft picks allocated by the AFL.

The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on:

1. The new contract of the free agent;
2. The age of the free agent.

Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period.

Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:

• 1st round
• end of 1st round
• 2nd round
• end of 2nd round
• 3rd round

In applying the formula, an expert committee reviews the formula outcomes. The committee has the power to recommend alternative outcomes to GM – Football Operations where the formula produces a materially anomalous result.
