If we got Ben, i can't fit Battle into the team, and we could probably spare Coffield.
But they can keep their grubby little gold coast mitts off Sharman.

Coffield looks back on the rise. They can have McKernan instead.

First day of real trade time and we are off to a good start.

Half of you want to trade Sharman to GC for King before he has even done a preseason on the back of a good start

The other half doesn't want to trade for King because we have Sharman before he has done a preseason on the back of a good start.

My head is going to ******* explode this trade period :D :D :D :D :thumbsu:

Schrodinger’s Sharman?

Let us ignore the Battle as part of a fantasy deal for BKING for 2022

However with the emergence of Sharman Battle is probably one of our very few tradable players that another team may want, that we can actually afford to let go.

Ratts does not seem to want to play him at CHB, and we already now have Highmore, Wilkie and Coffield as tallish back flankers. Smalls in Sinclair, Webster Clarke and Paton. As well as Hill etc.

Up forward for 2022 we have King FF, Marshall CHF (rotating with Paddy) with Membrey and now Sharman. Plus Wood has proven to a capable "fill-in" forward.

Battle is not a winger etc. So where does he now play?

So yes I think Battle may be on the trade table. The deal may not get done, but I think that they will test the waters.

Yeah we did but ‘keep trading’ probably implies we have kept trying to top up with older players and traded away lots of picks.
Just not the case.
We picked up Crouch, McKernan and Frawley, yeah they cost nothing but still the Saints are looking at aging player for expirence. The post was about not trading away picks for players of that ilk. In the last few years we went hard at some players and we had a mixed bag, so now why don't we invest in the future so what's happening to Collingwood, Tigers, Hawthorne and West Coast doesn't happen to us.

I read it differently
But the targeting of older guys really just topped up the list, we would have been 6 short otherwise.

The point I was making is that clearly we either have a commitment or need one, we can’t sit back and base our recruiting strategy around something that may never happen.

Also I’ve seen too many trades where a club sold the farm for a player only for things to end badly. The obj to the browns type trades rarely deliver, plenty of examples in the nfl and AFL. With Sharman looking like a super find we look to have a potentially great forward line, the kid is quite skilful and a natural footballer.

The bottom line is I doubt the club would miss the opportunity to recruit bing but surely they already know if that’s happening or a just a tease.
I think they know and yes everyone is right…
Battle, Ben king, max king and Sharman all don’t fit in the same forward line.

Bing
Mking
Sharman
Membry

can all be in a Forward line together easily.
Membry was great as a swingman this year and can help back if Sharman stays in good form. Also can play like battle did around the ground.

Sharman can also roll into the ruck and swap with Marshall while a young ruck finds his feet.
Our inside 50 numbers were pretty good this year. If we can keep that up and loose the disposal of ross and dunstan and replace it with boys who can kick…well

Skies the limit
I think if you have these 4 in the forward line, you no longer need to play a 2nd ruck. But I also suppose you don't want to play any of them in the center bounces in the ruck... I don't know, just seems having those 4 and a ruck floating through the forward 50 is a bit too tall....
