Max - Sharman - Membrey - 2nd ruck - Higgins - Butler - pressure forward

Seems a pretty good forward rotation to me. If Chol gets squeezed out at Richmond he could play the 2nd ruck role rotating with Marshall, and Long could become that pressure forward (did a bit of it this year), with Geary and Kent as other options.

Sharman would have to want to go.

Correct. And he is contracted with us for 2 years which is a factor in valuing the trade.

But if the lad is offered a longer term and more lucrative contract then he may consider it. He’s come a long way in a short time.

Again, I’m not advocating it and only suggesting a hypothetical that may be floated. It would be a heavy price to pay.

They weren't saying it as a stated fact more throwing up hypotheticals and guessing his value.
Saints are set to offer 1.1 mill a year. See easy to make up silly numbers. Not having a go, they just make shit up for their content. Fair enough but really far from accurate.

I am actually surprised what we are prepared to offer.

Loved seeing Hannebery in the team again, great numbers for 58% game time.
Keep him over Seb every day of the week. Byrnes takes Seb’s spot, Bytel Dunstan’s.
Seems slow as a Victorian lockdown week. That is exponentially slower than a wet week  ;)

He has been playing as an intercept spare which we have a lot of players that can play it already, Coff, Webster, Highmore, Wilkie even Joyce potentially.

It would make life hard if we have Battle, Sharman, Membrey, King, King, Snags, Kent, Wood etc all to fit in. That's a lot of middle to tall types of forwards and then there is Allison that was drafted as one as well. We probably have to cull a few at some point.
So you will cull some of them yet keep Luke and Seb Ha Ha

Re Sharman's height, it's worth noting that he was playing on Alex Pearce - 197cm. Sharman seems to have really sticky hands and takes it at the highest point. He's obviously really skinny at the moment and will put on some more size, but he does look to have the game to be a second tall. With King down there, he's never going to get the main defender anyway.

assistant coaches Aaron Hamill and Adam Skrobalak and high-performance chief Matt Hornsby leaving the club

Great news. We need much better assistants around Ratten. These guys have had their time. These changes will be bigger and more important than any player list changes that we make.

BTW, in terms of OOC midfielders, Jacob Hopper still doesn't have a contract for next year.

Your talking about one of the best forwards of all time 193

1 cm and height never held him back. Lockett was 191 and and Dunstall was 188. Wayne Carey 192.

Would we give up Sharman for King? If we didn't how would we fit them all into the team?

I guess one of the Kings could chop out in ruck , so we have King, King, Sharman, but Membrey is still only 27 too. Then there is Battle, Wood and Alison.
I wouldn't give Sharman up. Jack Gunston in the making on exposed form with no pre-season. 10 goals in 4.2 games avg better than Eddy Betts career avg.

We have a year to see if he can keep up his incredible form before we have to make a decision on Ben King. I prefer a bit of a mix of sizes and types. There were so many dimensions to the forward line yesterday.

After this trade period we will have potentially another 3 mids wanting a run. The first round pick usually gets a run early and that pure inside role player usually doesn't excel in other spots. ideally you have a bout 8 guys all pushing for 4 spots. Competition for spots makes you a better side. Brisbane have guys like Devin Robertson and Ely Smith as fringe types and they already have a great midfield.
The problem is BF wants all good players to be playing in the 1sts. Then if they can't crack the team we should delist them. Then if we get injuries our recruitment is terrible and we have no depth.

Good teams have good players playing in the reserves.

Its a different era to when those blokes were playing , how about trying to keep it relevant , Hipwood 204, Daniher 200, Tom Lynch 199 plus Max and Ben , do i need to go on

That’s a reasonable question to ask. King will cost plenty and Gold Coast will want an exciting talent who could play a similar role along with an early draft pick.

Sharman looks like he will be a gun. And if he was in the draft he would now be a very early draft pick. He has only played 5 games, but he looks the goods and has yet to do a full pre-season. He looks like a genuine footballer and not just an athlete.

This could be the price that Gold Coast demands for Ben King. It’s not unreasonable they would demand it, and they would offer him a very enticing contract to go up there before he lays down roots with us. It may appeal to them.

Rightly or wrongly, it may be something we need to consider.
Chuck in Anderson as steak knives and we have a deal

Would you trade Max King to Gold Coast with Ben King and a first coming back.

It’s a special bond which will drive people to do crazy things like fly from an island in the South Pacific to Los Angeles in the hope of reuniting.

By comparison, Carrara to Moorabbin is just a walk in the (RSEA) park

You clearly have no clue about these things and should stick to what you know about (“I’ll take Dunstan for $500 Alex )
