There's one on footy classified around mid year when caro was talking about the membrey and Ross situation then pivoted and started talking about what's happening at the saints. Lloyd chimed in.

Then Lloyd reiterated it on trade radio not long ago.

It was ALWAYs going to be a discussion point, every time his contract discussions came up - from the minute GC took only him when they could have taken both.

Blind Freddy from any neutral club would have realised there was always going to be a possibility he would want to join his twin.
Gossip and discussion go with the territory and as someone mentioned, it has not come out from the club power brokers at all.

GCS and Tony got him for another two years thanks to the AFL and IF it turns out he doesn’t want to stay then they can just suck it up.

His manager is totally out of line - should be shielding his player from all the speculation that is going to come, and all the pressure that is going to be heaped on him this year, not add to it by bringing up a social media tweet from 2018.

Someone really needs to dig up a reel of journos (maybe even just Dopey King would do) and what they said about Melbourne two years ago. As our coach always says: never as bad, never as good. So reactionary.
Trade Radio has 65 hours a week of content they need to do, along with whatever amount of footy coverage the rest has to do.

Its all "hot takes" this time of year and clickbait.

Where does Sicily fit with Wilkie, Highmore and Coffield?

I think we need a tall key defender more than we need another mid sized one.
He is a good mark and very good kick and would be better than our three. Got some aggro about him too not like some of our lambs. Wont get him though

this post is on the money! nothings happening this year by the looks of it, unless something weird happens.

I give it 6 months.
Suns and the media, are going to start chasing him, speculating about when/if he’s going to re-sign.
Hope he’s got a lot of good support because it’s going to be a very hot story for months.

Sicily would slot in nicely in our backline and why not look at Tom Mitchell as well. If there are players that will make the team better & bring us a step closer to the holy grail then I say Don't Die Wondering! Melbourne didn't.....

You make sound like are coming for free.

Tom mitchell would cost out pick 9 according to what the hawks want, and Sicily would cost another first round pick that we don't have.

Grass is always greener. We should cough up whatever it takes from any player from another club.

I dont agree he's a better player than Wilkie.

Maybe the other two but they are both young and inexperienced.

It wouldn't make sense bringing another third tall in, even if we think he's better anyway.

I’m a definite no for Mitchell.
Must be close to 30. Time to stop drafting in these players and develop our youngsters. We’ve got the experience around them with Captain Jack, Crouch and Jones.
Can’t believe we’d even be seriously looking at him.

Probably not worth the effort The time Sicily has had out injured has probably taken the focus off him a bit. Can go forward and kick goals as well. Hawks be crazy to sell him but a new coach has a big broom.

Agree not in the age bracket. So why was everyone pulling themselves over Luke Parker then?

The first point above is incorrect the 197 points relates to the discount we get not the cost AFL changed the 20% discount to flat 197 point discount for picks between 21-40. The cost will be the value of the draft pick the NGA is selected at so worst case

Pick 21 = 878 Points if we match we get a discount of 197 points so cost to us is = 681 points

So the discount is actually 22% at this pick and increases with each pick taken later as the discount is a flat 197 points for any pick between 21 - 40.

Pick 40 = 429 Points if we match discount of 197 points so cost to us is = 232 Points or 46% discount

So worst case if both our NGA's were bid on at Pick 21 and 22 we would need to find = 878 + 845 = 1723 - (197 +197) = 1329 Points

Best case they are bid on after 40 and we just use next available selection.

See link for details https://www.afl.com.au/news/523629/...ection-period-nab-afl-mid-season-rookie-draft

Thank you for clearing that up then.

So may have a shortfall still then as 3 picks with a 7 pick drop are worth 511 points . So +197 = 708 points.

Pick 24 785 points
Pick 25 756 points
Pick 26 729 points
Pick 30 629 points
Pick 40 429 points

For next year difference between Pick 12 and 13 is 69 points (so up 68 points will not change our pick). Difference between 16 and 17 is 48 points.

So hopefully one NGA goes Pick 25 or later and one 41 or later. Or that both go well after 25.
