  • trade back in with a future first and take phillipou

  • trade back in with a future second and take barnett

  • trade back in with a future second for someone else

  • only take MM and keep the other spot for PSD/rookie

I fully expect us to pick up MM and that's it.

Do we really have 3 spots available? I thought it was much tighter than that. Can anyone confirm?
We have 3 lis spots vacant currently. Rookies dont need to be upgraded until after the main draft and before the rookie draft. We can also downgrade at this time. So we could use all 3 picks. Max and two more. Then downgrade two players EG Seedsman and McPherson. Then upgrade Butts and Strachan.

Suspect that we take MM and then only take another in the national draft if there is someone we like at our next pick (likely at the range that clubs start passing) that we don't think will last to our first rookie pick.

That makes sense. Thanks

I suspect we will take a project tall late.
I agree, this year is the year of the sliding Giants. I wouldn't be surprised if we have an eye on cashing in on a project 198cm+ player for mega value.

Funny to think there was once a time not that long ago Lemmey was a top 3 KPF, Keeler was the next Paddy Ryder and Scully was the biggest bolter in the draft.

Now it seems like there's a reality where all are available in the 3rd round or later

Richmond will take one of the 3, they've said they want a tall project and mentioned all the SA lads

Which makes sense to me. At that point it's probably the highest upside to lowest cost position in this draft. And with their lack of draft capital they would look like Genius' if they could strike gold with a pick in the 50's

Would that be a record low? Surely must be very close if not.

And some posters are still arguing this years draft and next years have equal value…

sensational pick swap by JR
Could this be an aftermath of the COVID shutdowns, the players eligible this year would have missed significant footy during those critical development years (age 15-16)

Why would any clubs bid early to force us to match? We've got no picks to worry about in this draft.

A club will only bid on MM early if they rate him at that pick.
The way I look at it why bid early on someone you know wants to go to a particular club, especially an interstate club.
For example, What value does GWS get for bidding on MM in a teens pick? Chances are if they do get him, he’ll be back home after 2 years

Exactly why they are unlikely to bid on Ashcroft
True, but I think it’s a bit different where you have a top 3 talent . The club the player is tied to will always match , especially if they can get a top 3 talent with shitty picks . Ala JUH where pre draft he was described as they next buddy, and the bulldogs picked him up with a bunch of nothing picks.

Where the player is a middle of the road talent , they are likely to slide a bit further.

Correct as I've posted multiple times, no club is going to throw a 1st round pick away on a player they don't rate at around that mark and to suggest they'd do it just out of spite because of past history is laughable.

Payback?

We’ve bid on players mercilessly to ensure full value is paid

Maybe there a few clubs who want to return the favour

Possibly , but I don’t think clubs are that petty.

Most mocks have MM going after 20, so will be interested to see where he actually goes .
If GWS select him at 18 or 19 maybe you can claim payback.
