So is Max any good? Anyone seen him play? What can we expect?
He looks a very good prospect..

But get ready for the nana’s that run the club to “develop” him in the SANFL for a minimum of two years before he gets a look in at AFL level.. because he aint got much meat on his bones..

He needs to go on the Darren “stuff as many pies in your mouth as possible” Jarman diet…

So our input this year is essentially Rankine, Michalanney, and a decent extra 2023 draft pick.
not 100% sure..Reid was a bit cryptic here

Adelaide General Manager List Management and Strategy Justin Reid said the pick exchange provides the Club with greater flexibility in the next two national drafts.

“We are continually exploring ways to improve our draft hand and overall playing squad, and central to our decision making are the numerous scenarios that can play out in and around the draft,” Reid said.

“This latest swap of picks aligns with our list management strategy and as always, we will be true to our talent order and see how the draft selections fall on the night.”

Probably completely wrong, but I somehow feel more confident about a trade back into this year's first round now. 2 early seconds for next year is a decent bargaining chip

I read that and was baffled.

Not only a stronger draft, but a year where we have a lot of players coming out of contract who won't be continuing in 2024.
That you continue to believe the club has some clue is a nice one to watch

Out of those uncontracted players watch us re-contract 15 and be tight again

We hold picks 46, 56, 59, we get a 20% discount on points required

Those 3 picks will match a bid at 22 or later.
If after 29 we get to keep and potentially use 59
If after 41 we get to keep 56 & 59

I'm guessing if we have to match a bid before 22 it will also push out next year's pick 23, roughly 1-for-1.

I don't think you're wrong at all, I actually think you're bang on as I posted earlier. I think there's a player we rate that they think goes late 1st early 2nd round that a future 2nd might entice a club to part with a pick on the night if the player is still on the board. If not it's full steam ahead to 2023 with the pick.

Good trade, good business. Get out of a s**t draft and into a comparable spot in a good one. I genuinely reckon what's around at 23 is like 35 most years.

See ya in 12 months.
Interesting times in 2023 offseason.

Number of players likely to be cleared out that we don't in a future flag side.
2023 and 2024 first round picks at our disposal.
Two second round picks.
Probably a big salary cap space to offer up.

a first round bid on MM would currently have us go into deficit for our first round next year

thats not happening expect another pick swap to get more points into this year to stop that
If a bid came in around 15-20 (which it won't IMO) I think the club would consider passing on him and just trade the picks out.

Michalanney's not being bid on in the 1st round...
