Setters out, Walsh to a wing and Dow in?

Fisher out, Motlop in?

Boyd, Plow out? Saad, Omac in?

^ this is the maximum amount of changes we should make IMO, Saad and Omac in for structure/better role players in respective roles and the Wing/HFF positions reward great VFL form.

Does Dow have a tank now though? Last thing we need is to be carrying more heavy legs in the 4th, he was one that often started strong (had like 13 touches in the 1st one game before finishing with ~25) but faded dramatically as the game wore on.

Below are changes I’d also consider:
Kemp? Where is Kemp? Does Lewis Young make way eventually, or does he deserve an extended run? Wasn’t bad but wasn’t good either.

Stocker has to come in eventually, but when/where?
I dunno man, I prefer your idea of Bringing Fev Back ;)

How do we beat the suns?

How do we beat the suns?
The sun's need to be asking "how do we beat Carlton?"

We should just he concentrating on playing our game style and on our terms.

Win the contested ball all day and we dictate this game

The sun's need to be figuring out how to stop us.

Whilst in theory it ok, Setters played well and stays in for now.

Fisher out, Motlop in?
Nope.

Boyd, Plow out? Saad, Omac in?
Did not know Oscar available but stay with Young so no strong reason to bring Oscar in unless Young plays poorly and Oscar fully fit and displays strong form as key back.
Boyd out for Saad seems the only obvious move.
Plowman probably stays whilst gov out but if Suns forward line not super tall, maybe Parks instead. Not fussed with what they do there as neither are perfect 3rd talls for now.

Stocker has to come in eventually, but when/where?
I suspect in time he probably replaces Newman.
Newman will probably play most games as likely there always someone injured and he decent back up.
Stocker looking like the Ratten of the early 90's for Blues where had to wait to break into midfield. Midfield in form so might be some time and played half back in return from injury in two's on Sunday.

I don't think LOB or Setters want or need a break after 3 rounds, and especially not so we can bring Dow in off the back of a few good offensive performances "just to give it a go".

LOB and Setters are playing niche, team-oriented roles. I don't think Walsh does any more than either of them in those roles, so it's essentially a trade-off of Walsh's incredible midfield workrate which sees him involved in offensive and defensive play, for Dow's pure stoppage impact.

Given we're already scoring heavily from centre bounces, and getting challenged on opposition rebound, it feels a bit greedy and probably counter-intuitive to double down on the stoppage dominance at the cost of defensive workrate.

Leave Dow in the ressies. Challenge him to steadily improve his defensive impact without compromising his offensive impact. He doesn't need to reach Walsh levels, but any improvement is good for him and good for the team when he eventually cracks the seniors.

Actually think we’d lose impact with Walsh on the wing. Vossy appears to be playing our wingers in predominantly defensive roles (filling space etc), which allows our midfielders to play a more “high possession” game.

Moving Walsh to the wing will mean changing how he plays, not in a good way.

So yes, agree. I wouldn’t be dropping LoB or Setters, who have been doing their roles, just to give Dow a game.

I demand to be on someone's ignore radar......

I am monitoring your posts to determine if you warrant being ignored

the quality leaves a bit to be desired … the quantity is probably the bigger problem…. And didn’t your parents tell you if you can’t say something that denigrates your fellow poster, don’t bother

Apart from the fab 5, I think Setters has consistently been one of our best

Correct.
He has played the defensive wingman perfectly and O'brien the attacking wingman which sets up goals.

The only way our two current wingers are out will be through an injury as they both are playing exactly the way they should be one defensive one offensive but get back to help defense when opposition has ball.

Setterfield has taken a few grabs and had some big contests he has won in the back line in our first 3 games so far this year which adds heaps to the team he also has used the ball well coming out of defense and fwd of centre.

How do we think we can counter Suns employing a similar tactic to Hawks? I’m confident the talent on paper is covered but we need to address some stuff.

How might we be more efficient in our i50? McKay and CC too good?

I am not a fan of two dedicated rucks, if they are not clunking the ball then they look like witches hats when the other team has the ball

If Jack was not adding any value I would say get play an extra mid sized forward like Martin if you have to have two Rucks but thank god Jack is playing well cause I love him

The other point is we already have 3 tall forwards taking grabs

If the Pitt is fit then let TDK go and work on his forward craft in the Magoos - he will get chances and could end up being a great ruckman

Being a local, I'll be heading along on Sunday. I never feel comfortable leading into a Suns game, but I admit this year feels different.

Went along to the Suns v Dee's last weekend and watched them turn that game into a real shit fight. They tend to drag teams down to their level pretty successfully at home. Recent weather conditions up here don't help and I believe there are storms and showers (as well as the standard humidity) forecast for the weekend.

That being the case I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Martin in for TDK, although I'm always hesitant to change too much in a winning team, and having Dow/ Motlop as medical sub. I will now completely contradict myself by saying I HATE bringing in a debutant as a sub.

In: Saad, Martin

Out: TDK, Boyd

Sub: Dow

Can Dow play Fisher's spot?
I think he can, and I think we should try it
Got to reward performance at that level, and punish poor performance in the ones
Fisher for Dow this week please

Yep. We are using Kennedy superbly. Maximum impact.

We also have the depth of quality to allow us to minimise his minutes. Our mids are complimenting each other as much as possible. We pack more power than any other midfield but our weakness is the quick running power on rebound of the oppo. Footscray and Hawthorn are 2 of the best at that, and got hold of us when the game was on their terms. But we beat them both.

We'll stick with our strengths, as our strengths are now the best types of strength, and do our best in areas we are not crash hot at. We can even add to our strength more by adding Dow to our power mids if we choose. Imo, teams will be hard pressed beating our ball winning, field position winning midfield for long enough to beat us most weeks.

Win the contest with freshish mids, and get it into our Keys. Then do our very best with the other areas through method and discipline etc.

We've got a REAL team. And a REAL squad.

it's been inspiring seeing Kennedy dominate off of less than 70% game time. A real weapon using him the way we are… when cripps needs a breather bam bam comes in and goes bam bam instead of giving the opposition time to get on top. We are absolutely dominating centre clearances as a result of this tactic .. it seems as though two of our bulls are always fresh at any given time. More of this please … not sure how an opposition counters this unless they have as many bulls as we do… which they don’t!

Or maybe you could answer the question?
You didn't bother to address it last week either, that Williams had 9 score involvements (equal 2nd) to Newman's 3.
I would think that's a pretty significant difference, eyes open or closed?
Feel free to ask me a direct question, I must have missed it. I feel like you've only made statements so far.

I am assuming you want me to comment on Williams having 6 more score involvements? Maybe he is playing higher up the ground compare to Newman?
