TDK has looked better with every game since that Gold Coast pantsing. Not trying to launch into orbit any more, he's timing his run and jump, using his body, and making sure he keeps his feet to stay in the play after the tap. We may not win the ruck contest, but I'm confident that Preuss won't be able to just feed his mids all day.
I'm less confident, Preuss is a very Witts-esque ruckman I think TDK will struggle to match.

I just hope we don't see Silvagni go up against him often because that will be hilarious.

Think that you might be over rating Pruess a bit. He's O.K. but no superstar. Witts would have him covered by the length of the straight. Has been a bit of a journeyman with 23 games under his belt in 6 years (has had a few injuries). Blicavs from Geelong got 10 coaches votes last week as a stand in ruckman despite the Giants getting twice the amount of hit outs. Flynn is improving but playing them both makes them very slow.

We might not win the hit outs but our midfielders will take care of that. TDK can do some damage around the ground. We should win. We are playing significantly better football than them. Once again they have far more players to worry about than we do.

Jeez the way some of you are talking about toby Greene you would think he’s Peter daicos. Settle

If Martin is out, and possibly Hewett an in, who do you see making way for Plow? Or do you see Martin out, Plow in, and shuffling of positions?

If Hewett isn't ready, I would bring in Plow/Omac for Martin and play Doc on the next line, pushing Carroll to HF, who can rotate with other mids

If Hewett is ready, I would still bring in a taller defensive option in Plow/OMac, the second out would be unfortunate, no matter the player

I'm not overrating him, I believe his style is one that TDK struggles with. A bigger body (possibly the biggest body at the moment) who plays more physically tends to cause TDK problems, it's not a suggestion that Preuss is some amazing player, because he isn't.

Our 2nd best midfielder in 2022 as a defensive stopper? Reckon we've got better options. Release the Plow.
Just throwing it out there…
Hewett’s been sensational for our midfield, I’d prefer him in there myself just a little worried about Greene being contained, that depends purely on winning the contests and applying pressure over the entire ground 👍

In: Plowman
Out: Martin, Boyd (sub)

Give Cottrell a full game. He came in for Martin, played mostly forward, and did pretty well.
Cottrell is a player that we need to acknowledge has made major steps forward. Was always an endurance beast but has significantly improved his game awareness and his disposal. Doesn't mean that he doesn't have things to work on as he does and he is by no means a lock for first 22. Just feel a lot more confident know when he is playing. Still young and can still improve. Well done Matty and probably the coaching panel.

Err you all might want to hop over to the gws forum (the one that starts with rage) expectations aren’t high.
That was interesting reading (doesn't take too long). But the one comment that caught my attention:
"IMO the case for Hird as Interim HC is important in holding players - and line coaches - accountable."
🤣

If Hewett does his job in the guts Greene becomes a non event forward. So if you mean in that respect then yes. If you mean 1 on 1 unless Greene plays in the guts then no
Honestly i don’t think Doc Williams Saad or Newman have the ability to play him properly, I’m hoping so, now a lot of how it gets down to him depends mostly on how well our midfield, structures and team pressure is applied, let’s hope we break them down playing a good brand of footy defensively and offensively…
However it is, good luck buddy…

Massive danger game for us, but also a chance for us to show how much we've improved.

Our away form hasn't been good. GWS have beaten us the last 5 times with a few beltings in there. They have their backs against the wall at the moment.

In the past they would have salivated at the thought of playing against us. It's going to be a big game.

One thing you get with GWS is a physical contest so we need players in who won't shirk. I'd have considered dropping Newnes but his hard body could be handy.

As SOS will be rotating ruck a bit I'm not to shy about having Cripps and Kennedy interchanging as that other tall. Even having Plowman cover for Martin up forward.

out: Martin (inj), LOB
in: Plowman, Hewett/Dow
medisub: Cotters (he does this well, usually comes on with a bang).

Don't concur, he is a complete footballer. Reads the play, sense of theatre, skillful and doesn't shirk the contest.
I like Greene the player, but don't know enough about Greene the person, apart from he had a difficult childhood with his father, as a seen at time GWS were in GF. Wish Greene all the best. But what I do see with Greene the player is that he's a good player and goalkicker (last year 18 games 45 goals, 16 GAs). The thing that did surprise me is that he will be 30 at the end of this year. H McKay will be 26, with C Curnow 26 at beginning of next year.

I think Greene the person is a good person, good enough his team mates wanted him to be captain.

I think he's just a classic case of having white line fever. Once he's on the field sometimes his head explodes a bit. Would hardly be the first.

Is surprising he's that old though, still feels like a young player.
