In: Plowman (for specific role on Toby Greene), Motlop (need to replace Martin with a forward, Philp is the other consideration here but he was inferior), Hewett (pending recovery)
Out: Boyd (unlucky, but for matchup purposes), Martin (ffs), Cottrell (someone has to make way for a healthy Hewett)

Seems like Stocker may also be ready to come back, but defensively he was a bit out of sorts before getting injured, so don't think he comes straight back in.

OUT: Newnes, Martin/Owies, Newman, Boyd, Cottrell
IN: Hewett, Motlop/Dow, Stocker, Plowman

I know Owies is doing important work with forward pressure, but Charlie was the only one roving tonight. Durdin was doing work up the ground, so it falls on Owies if Martin is fit.

If we're not confident on Motlop, just push Walsh further outside and let Dow do some work, with Fisher spending more time roaming off half-forward. Boyd unlucky, but we need more aerial cover. If everything continues as hoped, Marchbank will replace Plowman soon enough anyway.

Could just as easily see none of these fitness issues go our way, and be picking through Kemp, Williamson, Fogarty, and Setterfield, but I'm honestly not worried by that at all.

You'll need an extra out, given Cottrell was the sub.

I think Saad is the easier choice to sit on Greene.

I know we have horses for courses so would bring Plowman in to get the role onToby Greene
Would then be tempted to send Boyd forward to play a defensive role on Whitfield. He is the type that could slice us open through his elite disposal of half back.
Just a thought.

Am looking forward to this game. Not to put a dampener on things, but last 2 games have been against Norf and Crows. They have let us play our style of game. GWS have quality players across each line. Cameron will be coaching to keep his job. It will be a great test in comparison to Freo and Suns games to see if we can keep game on our terms for long enough. I think we can now.

Anyone calling for Owies to be dropped don’t forget he’s #1 in the league for tackles inside forward 50. Everyone raves about Durdins forward pressure but Owies is just as good. Both locks for the foreseeable future.
Totally agree. I just laugh when i see suggestions he should be rested/omitted.

Not saying he is perfect but pressure wise he is right up there. I’m sure voss loves that aspect. Durdin and owies working beautifully together.

Greene destroyed us in the past. I don't think Saad is strong enough in the contest, Plowman too slow in reflex and in his first 5. Tough matchup for us.

We haven't won interstate all year!

6-2, team defence, out of the middle, have to rely on opportunities out and limiting in.

if Stocker is fit I'd play him every week.

I think Saad can do the job, * supporters tried to claim he’s bad 1v1 but he rarely loses, always seems to get there. He can give Greene a lot to think about on rebound too.

I actually think Owies is under a bit of pressure in the line up but don't think he'll be omitted at the moment. He is always going to give his all when he's out there.
His inability to get any separation from his opponent whether on hit up leads or tracking the footy inside 50 is an issue. He is also caught behind far too often.
I'd expect tackling and pressure acts should be a baseline for anyone who comes in and plays that small forward position.

Until the coaches believe Motlop is ready and has done enough for selection or Honey gets back from injury the spot is his.

Tough matchup for everyone!

Can't rely on just 1v1 to shutdown Greene, will need to be a whole backline effort.

Looks like we're building potential depth.
