Given what we had available for selection, this is about as good as it could get.

Really feel for Dow, who I would be playing ahead of Motlop, albeit not in the same role. I can only hope that as we embed the game plan more, coaches will feel more comfortable about playing to the strengths of our list instead of fixating on a set roster of roles.

But congrats to Jesse, looking forward to seeing what opportunities he can create for the forward group.

That's great . We still got a few good ones we haven't even tried yet ..

I do need to point out that Dow and Williamson are classed as having played 1 game each this year as unused subs. This applies for all teams however.

Essendon also have 2 unused subs with 1 game each. Saints have 1. Swans 2. Dogs 1.

May be an unpopular opinion, but I would've rather we kept Boyd in the side and brought in Plowman for Newman.

Newman makes the odd mindless decision, but his defensive positioning is miles ahead of Boyd. Has the flexibility to play a little taller than he is, which is going to be critical when GWS try to manipulate matchups.

Boyd is a work in progress, plenty of time for him and missing this one is no slight.

Agree. Not sure playing 3 smalls Durdin, Owies and Motlop is the way to go.

Dow in the midfield, allowing Cripps and Kennedy longer spells up forward may have been a better option to cover Harry.

De Boar in after being medi sub. Wonder if they’re going to try tag Crippa.

If they're smart, he'll stick to Cerra. Without Harry we're going to need to be direct with our forward 50 entries, and of all our mids, Cerra is the one who almost always finds time and space to effect deliberate, low kicks to the advantage of a forward.

Shut him down, pressure the others, and more of our entries are likely to be long, high and easily spoiled or intercepted.

How refreshing is it to have a coach who just speaks beautifully without any hidden meanings.

It's only when coaches are trying to justify unexplained losing streaks that the cliches and rhetorical answers emerge.

Parramatta forecast, 26 degrees, partly cloudy. morning fog. Slight (30% CHANCE OF A SHOWER) .Light winds.

So very warm, calm and more than likely dry.

Reckon Motlop might like this forecast ?

GO KILL IT YOUNG FELLA. All the very best for your debut. Gotta feeling you will make a big impact straight up.

If Hewett is in fact a late out (so hoping not) then surely, surely Paddy boy comes in?

Be interesting to know who actually made the trip????

Correct me if I am wrong but Olympic Park, or the Showgrounds is at Homebush, really only half way between the CBD and Parramatta proper....

Next door to Concord, Concord West etc..only about 10 clicks or so out of the CBD?

Looking forward to seeing Mots play got a feeling once in he will be hard to dislodge from the team
Dekoning is really stepping up a couple of full games and he’s looking comfortable.
I’m looking forward to how we rise to the challenges
I like your confidence but please name the last small forward or any player (apart from caroll) that has come in and been hard to drop. We just don't seem to have that capability to bring in new players and then having a massive impact...have I missed someone?

I’m not sure why would you want Cripps spending less time playing in the position that’s made him Brownlow medal favourite through the first 8 rounds to be replaced by a reserves player.
As shown last year Cripps cannot play as a permanent forward and he’s far more dangerous playing mid and drifting forward allowing him to use his height and strength advantage against his opponent close to goal.
Also whilst Kennedy showed a bit as a forward in 2019 he has shown far more as a midfielder this year.
Even though we’ve got a bit of height crisis this week IMO its fraught overhauling game plans and players positioning i response so I think the coaches have got the selections spot on.
