Everyone canning trading a f2 for a similar pick this draft , should look at the go dees who did this with first rounders for 3-4 years on end.
Let’s worry about next year when it comes - we might get a Pickett rated a top 20 talent
There was no reason to throw in pick 59 which could have been used for cooper

A straight second round swap is what it should have been

So when you’ve had enough dinner and there’s still a bit of pie leftover - you don’t let anyone else have it in case you want it later

ok so can * trade next year's first and second for our pick 3 this yr? They'd be mad for Wardlaw I'd suggest.

Need him tbh, more so than we do.
If you trade your future 1st you need to keep your future 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc. or vice versa. The caveat would be if they traded in another club’s future 2nd then they could trade theirs out.

We got Josh goater with pick 21 last year.
We'll get someone of a similar calibur this year.
Early 2nd rounders are like gold in the draft

They really aren't.
You need 2.7 picks in that range for a 100 game player.
Bigfooty over values them.

Not reliable like gold, but rare and special like gold.

You get more fool's Gold than you do Gold.
I really like the idea of2,3,23 and Cooper.
No trash third round picks taken.
23 is a bit of a punt but it's the only punt we are taking which is good.

teams that nail 2nd rounders are the ones that shoot up the ladder.
Sure nailed picks improve teams. But the chances are low of doing that. We need to improve next year or we will be welded to the bottom 4 for another 2 or 3 years.
We will start losing Ben McKay types from next year if we don't improve.
A pick in the 20s won't improve us next year.
Goater played 1 game last year. Expect similar out put from Cooper and pick 23 next year.

a pick in the 30s made us a better side last year and our pick in the 20s looks very promising.

We are all supporters. We want our Kyron, Perez, comben, Mahoney, Lazzaro etc types to be good players.
Usually they are gone from the list in 4 years.
I'd really love later picks to be used exclusively on talls and rucks given they take their time to come on. Get them in the system, chuck some weight on them and see if they can become senior footballers. Would love us to draft a 205+ player also, seems like in time that will be the norm required for rucks and even keys

Curtis was great for a second rounder.
We were due a good one.
Perez, Mahoney, Lazzaro, comben, Kyron, Bergman, goater, (I have probably missed some) have not improved our seniors whatsoever at this stage. Some have been on the list 3 years already.
You need to look at the whole picture not just concentrate on the 1 successful pick we have had.

I wonder if the Bombers would be interested in a trade given were not apparently into wardlaw anymore.
Say go from 3 to pick 4 and grab their future 2nd for our future 3rd or something.

Is that true that there is thought we aren’t into Wardlaw?

If so, which I’ve not heard then yeah take Seezle then tsiatsis at 4 and get a future second back

We have enough development rucks already imo. Look what Hawthorne payed for meek this year. A third rounder and his development years are pretty much done.
I agree with kpfs though.

Yeah I remember the heady days of Clarke , hibberd , Wagner and mountford
Those were glory days

I’m not entirely convinced the only reason Goater didn’t play more is because the hole he’d leave in the vfl team.
The lack of kpp depth left us so vulnerable to injury across the list.

Can you not fathom that we need to pay a bit extra for something that we get now compared to 12 months later? It happens in literally every other code that does future trading. There is also the unknown of what the future pick will actually be. Adelaide could potentially end up with pick 23. If they do end up with 23, they have just waited 12 months for the same pick.

There are plenty of ways to sort the Harvey points out, if we even need to. Be awesome if you could stop banging on about pick 59, which has very little value.
