Talking to a guy today who’s info is pretty good ( knows a couple of players) says Turner is expecting to be Rookie listed.

Not the absolute end of the world if true. Wanted him delisted earlier in the year but if our coaching was really as bad as rumoured, wouldn't be against a rookie spot. I would rookie purely for nailing Judas.

Played under noble, couldn't get a game under patch.
Not sure if we should be carrying a late 20yr old who can't manage a game in the worst defence in the AFL.
Nevermind the shockingly bad stats.

Let Jed go and keep Turner.Nice one!
One has been in the leadership group the last 2 years and has won the best clubman award before.
The other shows up more than a month late for preseason, is injured every year and does not listen to the doctor's.
We need leadership. I would delist both but I can understand if we keep Turner.

I think the Crows would have had better offers for it than 40 + 43.

How many trades are 'won' these days?

On SM-S901E using BigFooty.com mobile app

Possibly and plenty.

Geelong and Bowes?
Brisbane and Gunston?
Geelong won the Kelly Trade
Carlton won the Gibbs trade
Richmond won the CCJ trade
Port won the Judas Trade
Adelaide won the Dawson Trade

We won the Greenwood trade, gee we were clever. So clever we are stuck with that glacier for 2 more years and had to get rid of Jed to make it happen.

It’s just dumb.

Hilly, you are smart man.

1. Why are we trading 40+43 out to replace them with worse players at worse picks? Surely we just delist more players and take 6 in the draft?

2. See above, like wtaf?
They really aren't.
You need 2.7 picks in that range for a 100 game player.
Bigfooty over values them.

Using data from 1989 doesn’t work in this instance.

Use the data since the they made it a 2 night draft, and the relative value it holds, not just as a pick but a trading lever makes more sense.

So the data you want to use is the last 3 or 4 years? That would be worse as no one will have played 100 games. No one is proven yet in the 20-30 range. Picks in that range take time to mature as all the ready to go players are top 10 most years. Having a break after the first round has zero effect on who is left for 20s picks. Drafts just don't go that deep with sure things. It's more fails than successful picks. Always has been always will be. Our picks over the last 3-4 years should show this, all clubs are similar.
Bigfooty over values second round picks.

Yes totally agree Turner bleeds blue and white great clubman but on field is a very limited footballer, i think Anderson on a rookie list makes more sense.

1. Ridiculous list management from the Suns and looks suss
2. Free agent, trade purely to dance around compo
3. They did but at the time plenty were saying Kelly would be a huge loss.
4 True, not sure anyone saw Gibb declining at the rate he did
5 They did, I've mentioned before how much we overpaid
6 Perhaps - the upside is there. I thought we did ok given we clearly wanted him out
7 Marginal imo
8. No I'm not but thanks
9. Agree but I wonder if the value of the first pick on the 2nd night is being overstated a touch. It didn't move last year. There is always a cost attached to moving up - I hope/think we have worked out who the player might be.

I'd still maintain that the majority of trades are largely neutral these days (i.e. not data from 1989 when clubs would trade pick 1 for journeymen). I reckon we did okay on the Logue/Tucker deal in terms of cost and making use of expiring picks.

I don't know in terms of the latter stages of the draft. RF08, Soup etc may.

Well do the stats for the last 10 years then. I do think "always has been always will be" is not correct on drafting, there has been continuous improvement since the days of Stephen Hooper being the number one pick.
I would also be very curious to see how many round 2+ picks were in recent premiership teams. Maybe overall round 2 picks are shit because the likes of North continuously screw the pooch, while the good sides nail them. In which case we shouldn't give up on them, but rather look to improve our drafting in this range.
